What should I say when asked for the purpose of my NBI clearance for the visa interview???

Anyone with recent first-hand experience?

I am (usually) the beneficiary.

4. NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form): Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, or "No pending case”. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

Does that help?

Thank you sir, my mind is going into panic mode again because I remember going to the NBI office long ago when I first got my clearance as a pre-employment requisite and I heard an officer say that for USA travel, you need to specifically get one for "Travel USA". :(

I don't know, I might just get 2 of each! Haha

On another note, WHY are there even redundant options like that???? WHY does the Philippine government have to be so endlessly confuddling??? For Pete's sake!!!

Hopefully, someone with recent experience can answer and give me peace of mind.

Typical bureaucrats finding a way to justify their jobs by making things overly complicated about what stamp to use on the form, and a way to gain a little extra statistical information about the applicant, hopefully not as a reason to take advantage of someone's inexperience and vulnerability.

Get the GREEN NBI clearance. It's the one for TRAVEL ABROAD. For purpose you can put, "For US Visa Application".

There's another kind of NBI clearance which is the YELLOW one but it's for LOCAL (Phils.) EMPLOYMENT ONLY.
