I arrived on December 23. Still no green card. I am fairly sure I checked the box that asked if I automatically wanted to have a green card made, or whatever the form said.

Who can I get in touch with to find out about the green card. I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Is there an office I can go to, or do I e-mail/call someone?

The green card can take up to a few months to receive. It depends on how fast the POE sent your package to USCIS and it depends how big of a backlog USCIS has to process your papers.

There was no question about it on the forms, you of course get the green card automatically. What you're thinking of is the SSN. And if you did check off yes, it's still a hit and miss. If you did check yes, and it's been more than 3 weeks since POE, it's suggested at that point to go to a local SSA office and apply in person. That's what I had to do and I then got my SSN in the mail 10 days later.

No need to get into touch with anyone about your green card. They'll just tell you it can take a few months to receive. Plus, the visa in your passport and the stamp you received at POE acts as a temporary green card for up to one year. So there's 0 reason to worry at all about the green card, unless you're at like month 11 of waiting.

Oh, sweet! kicking.gif

You should get a welcome letter package soon. It includes a NOA (like with the I-130 petition) that contains a receipt number which you can input on USCIS's website and you can then track your green card's progress.

You can call USCIS and ask for the tracking number on the green card.

It's sent out first class, with a tracking number.

I say call each day until you learn of the tracking number.

Then study at http://www.usps.com to track the letter.

Good Luck !

Hi I just got my NOA2 and I have too many questions going around my head :innocent: . For some of them I got the answers from this thread, thanks for that but there are still more.

1. I have submitted the original marriage certificate to USCIS with I130. I heard that they keep the original copy and I have to submit request form G884 to get it back. Is it true? I thought USCIS will forward them to NVC.

2. Do my wife really need to send DS3032 to NVC? she is not with me and I have to get her signature on this form.

3. This petition is for my wife and I don't have any other income than income from my job. So will I be filling I864EZ or can I file I864 or doesn't matter?

Thank you.

1. You were supposed to sent only photocopies of documents to USCIS, because the originals will have to be sent to NVC, so yes, they will keep it unless you make a specific request to get it back. You're going to need another copy of it for NVC.

2. If your wife doesn't submit the DS3032, her IV bill won't get invoiced and you won't be able to complete the NVC process. The good news is she doesn't have to sign it, because there's an email format you can use instead of using the snail mail version you're referring to.

3. If you are the sole sponsor for the immigrant, you file an I-864.

Also, this is an old thread - you can come on over to the current one where everyone else is at for future questions. good.gif

Thank you so much oohpartiv for prompt reply.

Ya I knew that after I sent it. But I sent the original copy of marriage certificate only. Now I have to send the request to get it back.

So isn't the email format for only for those whose countries are eligible for electronic processing?

I will be having a co-sponsor. So I am gonna submit I-864EZ then?

Thank you

The DS-3032 can be emailed by everyone and anyone. It's only emailing the AOS and IV packages that are only able to be done by those countries eligible for EP.

Use the I-864 if you have a joint sponsor.

Thank you Saylin.

So my wife can send an email to NVC as a DS 3032 after we get the case number and IIN??? Can I follow the DS3032 template given in this thread or does she need to attach pdf form too?

One more question: To pay the bill for AOS and NV, do we need to wait for any approval from NVC or we can just pay online after sending DS3032?

Thank you once again.

You can email the DS3032 as soon as you get your case number and give your email addresses to the rep. If you want to attach a pdf, you can, but it's not necessary - mine was approved by just sending the format. And no, you can't pay right away, because you have to wait for NVC to invoice the bills. They'll send you an email once it's been invoiced, and you can log onto the payment portal to do so.
