Hi everybody,

I'm thinking of contacting the congressman about my pending AOS case, which was transferred to California Service Center exactly 7 months ago (in less than 5 hours the 8th month will begin). Yet, I don't know what to say to the congressman's aide. Will she know what to do, for example, which USCIS office to contact, which number to call, how to put in a request, etc...? Also what kind of documents should I bring to the congressman's office?

Anyone who has experience with this please advise me!

Many sincere thanks.

Yes they know. Put as much information on your case as you can, like case numbers, dates, full name, and so on... Have you found your congressman's website yet? Sometimes they have some special page for immigration's request, and it looks very easy to do. You can email or call them, put a copy of your NOAs.

Check their website. Mine had a page labelled "constituent services" and under that "casework". It had a form to fill out to ask for assistance with a federal agency (including USCIS). You fill that out, and sign the privacy consent (they need the consent form before they can do anything on your behalf), then fax or mail it.

In this website link you can find your Representative by entering your zip code. Then you contact his/her office and they will tell you if they can help you and what documents will need from you.

Good luck!

Thank you all very much. I did find the congressman's website. Yet, in the constituent services section I didn't find anything about immigrants. Anyways, I did see the privacy release form, which I downloaded and filled out. I will send it to them next week.

I hope they are familiar with this kind of issue.

Thank you and wish you guys a very nice weekend.
