I will also be traveling out of the country in June and in July. I'm sure it will be fine but since you are traveling next week, please make sure you post your experience here so we can all be informed.

Thanks and safe travels!

My wife has a removal of conditions case pending filed in December as well and we'll be traveling out of the country for 3 weeks until June 15th. I'm not worried about her not getting back in at the border with the extension notice. What I'm worried about is missing a RFE or interview notice while we're out! Do you guys know what's the best thing to do?

I am the US citizen, my wife is the applicant.

Adjusting from J1 Trainee visa:

August 25th, 2010: Filed AOS package to USCIS

August 27th, 2010: Package received by USCIS

September 2nd, 2010: Received I797 for I-130, I-485, I-765

October 14th, 2010: Received biometrics appointment letter (will be on Nov 5th)

AOS interview will be on January 13th, 2011!

January 13th, 2011: Approved at the day of the interview

Next step, removal of conditions

I am no expert, but I know an RFE is rare, not everyone gets it. Same thing with an interview. I also know that in the case of RFE or interview, you have plenty of time between the notice and the time they give you to produce the evidence and since you guys are only leaving for 3 weeks, I don' t see that being an issue. Like I said , I am no expert, someone else may have different opinions.

my thoughts to you would be to have someone check your mail while you are gone, and in the case of a piece of mail from USCIS, you can be prepared.

Our RC and 10 year GC was approved today at our interview.

We fumbled a few questions on dates and a few things but still were approved. I think that was due to some anxiety.

One thing the interviewer asked us if we applied for GC extension and when I said no she was about to cut the 2 year GC. Then I said "well the letter said we had an automatic 1 year extension in the letter" then she didn't cut it.

She said it would take about 2 weeks to get the 10 Year GC in the mail.

We are thankful to have completed this step. Citizenship will be next in a few years.. :)

WOW that was so fast!!. Congratulations!. I did not expect to see any approvals yet for the December filers but i guess CSC is processing way faster than VCS. So getting a notice for an interview can be a good thing i guess.

Also, i am curious: why a few years to citizenship???. You do not plan on applying for Naturalization as soon as your window opens?. Congrats again!

Congrats.

From your description it sounds like you are one of those (about) 10% of the applicants that get randomly selected for an interview.

Good stuff!

thanks for the comments, yes we should do citizenship when the window opens. My wife got nervous today and is worried if she can handle the citizenship interview on her own. Does anyone know if the spouse is allowed to attend that interview or is that her only ?

Sometimes it's hard for her to understand english if the person happens to be a fast talker lol..

9 times out of 10 the spouse goes in alone.

It's a test of a basic English language and skills. If she gets a fast talker, just politely ask him/her to speak slower.

The test is very easy. I mean you have questions upfront! And proving bona-fide relationships won't be hard (I mean, you just did that!)

Yes they sent my package and I sent it back last 12/28/13. Can you please tell me how to make an infopass appointment? What do I need for that? Thanks you!

I checked unupdated members' profiles and found we didin't update this angelicnurse's post. So, I'll change her sent date to 12/28...

Almost half of CSC filers abandoned this thread... I hope they will come back!

Congrats lbounds  !!

@Martyshk, I think we should keep lbounds' interview letter received date. It gives other filers an idea :) So, I'll put it back, OK? ;)

Just FYI,

Wifey renewed her Driver License in NJ yesterday with no hassle whatsoever. Just handed over the GC with extension letter and that was it.

Now I'm just hoping she has her citizenship by the time we go renew the DL again (in 13 months).

Слава Україні!

Has anyone (Dec. 2012 filers) heard anything from USCIS after the biometrics appointment?

NOTHING. I am starting to lose my patience.
