The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

Stop having opinions that they don't agree with. Go back to Canada, you dirty foreigner. Stop trying to change the flawless 'Merica.

 Funny part is that my family in the States are in agreement with me and they are very much pro-gun, concealed carriers. I'm considering getting my license. I had my license in Canada (obviously minus a concealed carry that you cannot get without being law enforcement), but I'm considering getting one in FL.

i buy most of my business and personal guns at auction. lots of people do. at these auction houses an FFL processes NICS and 4473. lots of people buy up to 20 guns in a single day at these events, for personal use, or for resale.

if straw purchase occurs a crime has been committed. a paper trail is established by 4473 that ties to a drivers liscense or other state ID. law enforcement is simple from there on. why inconvenience 10,000 people to stop 1 crime in process that can be resolved after the fact?

jim crow laws are laws that effectively disenfranchise segments of the population by economic or other means. maryland's $250 CCW application process costs are jim crow. their "may issue" only to really well connected people policy is jim crow. the NFA 1938 Act is jim crow. so is any unreasonable scheme designed to keep a certain portion of the populace disenfranchised.

california's restrictive CCW laws go back to Reagan's governorship. they were designed to keep militant black panthers from carryign guns in public assembly. this is historical fact. it is also jim crow. laws already existed to deal with people who engaged in crimes of violence or intimidation in Ca. the CCW restriction was just designed to make kali police work easier...

Oh yes, I agree that "may issue" is discriminatory. (I was trying to figure out how my number 6, the FFL transfer was connected to Jim Crow...I see now you were referring to an early point and not number 6).

On your comment regarding straw purchases, we very clearly see that the crime cannot be resolved after the fact as firearms often become lost to the system (The broadest being the recent ATF error). Therefore, interception prior to transfer is the key.

Buyer's behaviors would of course need to be factored in and I wouldn't see any limit on the number purchased in one setting. If a law abiding person does purchase large quantities it makes sense to not flag future purchases for investigation. This is a similar practice to other products like narcotics, explosives etc.

Access to guns increases gun crime much in the same way access to automobiles increases automobile crashes.

Someone posted - "Well that would generally be illegal..."

And yet, it happens every day.

So, if laws don't work, why are we going to try to fix something by making more laws?

It's silly that we're even considering making something "more illegal" since "illegal" isn't cutting it. Murder is illegal. Robbery is illegal. Rape is illegal. Drugs are illegal. Waiting periods, background checks, registrations, etc., are all wonderfully expensive and cumbersome ways to further exacerbate the failure that is criminal law - especially law concerning firearms.

What part of "shall not be infringed" is so hard to understand?

gun violence will be an issue in this country. It seems that America is at peace with this.

Where is all this gun violence happening? Who are the victims? Are those people we care about?

Luckily, America allows people with different opinions. Learn to tolerate them without telling them to GTFO. :)

I'll remember that next time someone tells me I should move to Somalia because I like guns and limited government.

gun are like women's shoes. nobody needs 20 different kinds and colors, but they do want them.

I need 20 types of guns because some of my friends, family and neighbors are too stupid to buy their own and lack the means to resist tyranny.

If necessary, I can arm even the dumbest of libtards who come knocking. I will do my best to refrain from saying, "I told you so."

Who is talking about race in this thread? Other than you, I mean. :)

If you're talking about gun control, you're talking about race. The reason folks aren't "up in arms" about the racist policies of gun control is the same folks affected by the racist policies are typically the ones asking for them to be instituted because they've already been duped into thinking it's the government that guarantees their safety. They want more government, not more responsibility.
