Hi,

I would just like to announce that my husband (relative) and myself (petitioner) got an approval on the spot. We had our interview scheduled for 12:45 pm today but we ended up arriving at the Holtsville USCIS location at 1:00 pm. (late due to a lot of double checking of documents). We went through the usual security procedure once we entered the building and then went in to the general waiting area. My husband then proceeded to go to the sign in desk and handed his interview notice to the receptionist. He returned to the seating area where myself and our kids were waiting and about 2 minutes after an IO came to a door on the side of the room and called his name. Once we walked up she remarked on how adorable our three kids are and promised them that she won't keep "mommy and daddy" too long. We followed her to her office and during that time she mentioned that our case is very straightforward and she wouldn't keep us too long. once we got to her office she said that she is "officer P" and before we could sit down she told us she needed to swear us in. After that, she made a joke about why anyone would want to leave the Caribbean with all the beautiful beaches and live in America instead. Then Officer P proceeded to ask my husband standard questions about whether he's a terrorist, if he deals in espionage, if he gambles, if he does drugs..all to which my husband replied no. (Just a few short questions to my husband and no questions were directed to me). At which time, she told us since she made a promise to our kids not too keep us too long and since the i-130 was in order, that all she needed to see was each of our birth certificates and our marriage license. She then shook our hands and welcomed my husband to America and told us that she was approving our case and all we had to do was wait outside for her to stamp my husband's passport with the i-551 and input information in the system for the production of the green card which we should be receiving in 10 days.

all in all the experience was very pleasant and the IO, officer P had a very upbeat and friendly personality. I was wondering how our experience would be after I read so many user experiences that ranged from unpleasant to easy and simple. I'm so thankful to God that Officer P was our case officer and we had no problems whatsoever. We walked with a bunch of documents such as lease, bills, statements, photos, affidavits from family of our marriage and the only documents that she actually asked for were the birth certificates and marriage license. I guess it also helped that we have been married 6 years and have 3 kids. Now my husband will be applying for his social security card sometime this week and then his learners permit in the upcoming weeks. I wish everyone else a simple and pleasant interview such as the one my husband and i had today. The interview only lasted a mere 5 minutes. The majority of the time was taken up by us actually walking to and from the IO's office.
