Recently my mother applied for U.S. citizenship. She passed the interview fine, but there was a mix up with her birth certificate so we had to mail it in after the interview. The problem is that I never made a copy of the paperwork our USCIS office sent to us (big mistake, I know), and my mother's interviewer asked her for all of the paperwork she had on her. So now we don't have anything with her receipt/reference number on it (I forget what it's called). We sent in her birth certificate a month and a half ago and still haven't heard anything back. I don't know how to check on the status of her case without the receipt number. When I called the national USCIS number, the person I spoke to said he couldn't look up her case without the receipt number (I asked if we could look her up by her A number and he said no). Even the letter we received from the USCIS office requesting her birth certificate doesn't have the receipt number on there. How can I found out the status of her case? I am especially concerned about getting her birth certificate back. Is there any way I could obtain the number of our local USCIS office? I couldn't find it online and the customer service rep says they don't have the contact information either. Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong section.
