Dublin Embassy Interview.... waiting... waiting... waiting...

Does anyone know how these things go with Dublin? We're in the final stages of our long-running K1 journey which started at the end of February. Here it is going into December and we're still.... waiting.... We got the NOA2 in September and October 30, we returned the letter notifying the Dublin Embassy that all documents and requirements had been fulfilled, medical, etc. And they were supposed to schedule an interview at the earliest opportunity.

Here we are a month later and nothing. Now it's looking like it's going to be another lonely Christmas for us. Any ideas on how long it takes for them to schedule the interview or what time of the month they do them or how we can ask them or ANYTHING? There seems to be no way to contact them. We're very frustrated and worried.

They have an email address, I found in the Embassy info page here, maybe try that?

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I don't think they respond to emails. Or phone calls. It's a black box. You send in your packet letting them know you have everything for their interview to be scheduled as soon as possible and then you wait to find out how long as soon as possible will be. 5 weeks now waiting and no end on sight. You can call the department of state but they can't tell you much. So far it looks like they only do interviews at most on e a month and they don't log anything until they assign interview dates. The DOS can tell you what is logged last but for us the last touch at the embassy was October. It will probably depress you more than uplift you to find out nothing new. We've called twice. Both times "no interview has been set". And that's all they can tell you about your case. Good luck. You may have a shorter wait. You'll probably go the same day Berni does if my guess is right on how they operate. Let me know if you get yours?

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

  • 3 weeks later...

OK, December 27th. Still no interview date but at least this time when I called the state department, they said that the status is "awaiting interview date", which is a new status. Interview date has not been assigned but at least we're finally in the queue for one and that's something. So it looks like interview will be at least 80 days from the time we sent off packet3 requesting interview date at the embassy. We are wondering if the holidays may have something to do with it.
