Medical Test

Hi all, I just have a question about the medical test, I've booked in to have mine done next week.

I've read that the test results are usually valid for 12 months, and that at some stage further down the track during AOS, these medical tests are required again - so if anything is incomplete or the results are no longer considered current, I might need to have more medical things done at that point. Can somebody tell me what this involves and when it's likely to happen? If all goes well I expect that I'll be in the US about three months from the time that I do my medical. We'd get married probably within a month or two and then send off our paperwork. Am I likely to be fine as far as medical work then? I'll be having any required vaccinations done here.

Thanks in advance,

(F)

If your K-1 medical was done within a year of filing for AOS, then no new medical is needed at all. If you get all the required vaccinations at the time of your medical and they are all marked off on the DS-3025 and everything is filled out properly, then all you will need to do is send in a copy of the DS-3025 they give you. If the form is not completed correctly or you are missing any required vaccinations, then you will need to see a civil surgeon in the US to get the missing shots and have the vaccinations transcribed onto an I-693. Again, another medical is not needed if yours was done within the year prior to filing the I-485.

You are welcome, and thank you. You are very kind. This site helped me tremendously when I was researching about starting the K-1 process. I just like to return that and help others get through the daunting, long immigration process. Good luck at your interview! :)

Jay-Kay is totally right!

just make sure they give you a copy of the ds-3025, the civil surgeon here in the us will use it to have your i 693 ready for your aos. If you don't have it, you will need to go through another medical which is a waste of time and money. So you get sealed envelope from the physician there in your country, a copy of part of its contents which is a copy of the ds 2035 that you will use here in the usa. Good luck with the k-1 process!

If all the required vaccinations are done at the time of the K-1 medical and marked off on the DS-3025, then no need at all to see a civil surgeon in the US for an I-693. Even if someone does not have a copy of their DS-3025, they do not need to get another medical done. The medical portion of the I-693 is not required if your K-1 medical was done within a year of filing for AOS, whether you need more vaccinations or not.

This post by Nich-Nick explains well what the DS-3025 needs to entail in order to skip the civil surgeon and I-693 entirely: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/335754-ds-3025-complete-or-not/page__p__4971318#entry4971318

Wow, that's great. Thanks for that extra info, Juan and Kay - I had seen someone refer to the i-693 and DS-3025 issues in another post but didn't quite understand what they were referring to. I'll make sure to have all this lined up.

Now I just need an emoticon with a little guy holding his palms together and bowing his head. (F)
