Can you get fingerprints for K1 Visa done at Local Police Station

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in a situation where the Victorian Police have a backlog of appointments for the fingerprinting and national police check. Our appointment is 30 January 2013 but the due date for our petition is the 22 January 2013. I have my medical booked for early december so it would only be the police check and fingerprints holding us back. We've emailed the Consulate in Sydney to apply for an extension for our petition but have not heard anything back yet. Does anyone know if it is possible to just go to any local police station in Victoria to obtain the fingerprints? I called Werribee Police Station and they said I could come in for fingerprints but they didn't know if they would be the same as the ones taken at the World Trade Centre in Melbourne. (The main one where the 1300 881 596 number tells you to book)

Any help or advice would be great,

But first try calling back the Victoria Police customer service center and see if you can get an earlier appointment. Myself and several others here went through exactly the same thing as you, the first time we called we were given an appointment months away. If you keep calling back, explaining what you need and why, and that it's really urgent that you get it done fast, eventually they will give you an appointment that is only a few days away. I called back and eventually got an appointment for the next day, and they gave me a choice of three times to come in that day!
