All I can say is that it is good that you stole stuff in the United States and not Egypt:

The law calls for the application of “Heraba,” an Islamic penalty for criminal actions that include overt robbery, murder, forcible taking of property with a weapon and vandalizing public facilities.

The penalties according to Azzazy’s bill are execution in the case of murder, or cutting one arm and one leg from opposite sides of the culprit’s body in the cases of robbery and forcible taking of property. If the taking of possessions is accompanied by murder, the penalty would be death or crucifixion, to be determined by the judge.

At least you got home with all your body parts intact eh sport?

LOL - even if Egypt is now being ruled by an Islamist-leaning figure it's still a Republic. They put you in jail for stealing, they don't chop off your limbs. Can only think of 3 governments that would ever exact such punishments and don't even do it that often - Iran, Saudia Arabia, Sudan.

OP - Your story reeks all kinds of fake. Why would they give 3 tourist visas to an Egyptian who doesn't speak any English? Why is it my fluent english speaking, gainfully employed fiance who was a student here in the US can't get a tourist visa and you can? :wow: I'll grant you it's a pity the cops didn't get you an arabic translator. That is standard procedure upon arrest. But all visas to the US are a privilege, not a right. You lost your privileges.

One doesn't need to speak English to get a tourist visa. That is not a part of the application.

Thievery is a Crime of Moral Turpitude, so no more USA for you.

Thank you very much. Your ability to speak or not speak english does not determine ur success during visa interviews. I speak good english but was denied for visitors visa twice in the early 2000 and I know people who dont speak zip get it all the time.

and yes It is possible to pick up stuff in a store after initial check out and almost forget to pay for it...It almost happened to me last sunday. After I had checked out and was leaving the store , i saw some birthday cards closer to the exit and was heading there to pick up one for a friend when i remembered i had checked out and so picking one would mean going back to the cashier way back and so i left it. What baffles me in this story is that OP said even after the securtiy asked him to follow him, he still kept asking "what did i do wrong"?!!!!!! at that point you should have realized you went back to pick an item you did not pay for. yes you claim not to understand english well and thats how missed a court date for that act, I am sure if you made more effort, you could have found an egyptian who would have interpreted the meaning of the summons or whatever the police officers told you.

anyway for now no US visa.

Millions of people get tourist visas with no close relatives in the US

Yes, but how many of them get waivers for CIMTs committed on tourist visas without having close relatives in the US?

To the OP: Other posters bring up a good point. You were "obligated to go back to Egypt" because your father was ill - Let me remind you that the entire point of a tourist visa is to go back.

Looks like you were charged with theft (or something) and you didn't realize it because you returned to Egypt.

The US Embassy can track if you were involved in any criminal activity during your stay in the US, that's why the consul did not give you a tourist visa.

I don't think he didn't get visa for stealing per se.

He was asked (at the interview in the embassy) if he was ever arrested in the US (according to him, he didn't understand this question) and he lied by saying no.

To the OP: how long have you been in the US? You said you got three visas before, so how much time did you spend in the US each time? Seems (to me, so no offense) that you abused tourist visa.

According to Islamic Sharia Laws, stealing stuff, knowingly or unknown, would cost you your right hand.

Imam or the "swords man" will place your right hand on the chopping block and WHACK it off.

Lesson learnt!

End of story.

Be glad it's just a revocation of your tourist visa.

At least you got some mercy from our country. good.gif

I don't believe he didn't understand: he told us the whole story, it means he understood!! If he managed to write all that, his English is good enough!

I don't think you need to do anything, they are not going to chase you down in Egypt, don't worry. I think many of us are wondering why is it so important to you to get another tourist visa?

How is our embassy being 'unfair?' Who stole something, the embassy personnel..or you? Answer: You. Why should the US of A admit people who steal? Why should we believe you won't do it again? Why should we believe YOUR version of these events? I think it would be unfair to me, as an American taxpayer, if our embassy did give you a visa. What would the penalty have been in Egypt for stealing? Probably something worse than not getting a visa.
