DS-230 Depression/mental health question

Hey guys......Im freaking out as usual,we'll soon be ready to get the DS-230 together and I have a major concern over a particular question

who has or has had a physical or mental disorder that poses or is likely to

pose a threat to the safety or welfare of the alien or others; or who is a drug abuser or addict

I have suffered with depression in the past mainly due to the fact I was in a terrible marriage I drank to cope. I met my USC now husband and left my ex.......for a while the guilt crippled me(my son wanted to stay with his dad) and I overdosed and self harmed. With the support of my USC now husband,family and friends I began to put my life back together,I stopped drinking 3 years ago and havent self harmed in just as long too. I take 10mgs Paroxetine which just seems to help.

Do I have to anser that DS-230 question as yes????? As I am no longer having issues.

Also I know I'll need a psych evaluation,so my question is can I book one privately in my home town.....then take the results to my medical in London when I have it?

I'd rather be prepared and not feel disappointed when they tell me its whats required anyway. Im terrified I'll be penalised for going through a really tough time in my life.

I to dealt with this issue and was prepared for all the what if's. What I did was got my letter from the pdoc stating that 'issues were not likely to reoccur' medical passed. AND I was already on my hubby's health insurance and we brought those supporting documents with us to the interview (specifically highlighted in the policy that mental health was/is covered)Their big concern is that you will not become a public charge due to illness or injury. Approved on the spot.

Also to note that I checked no to that question as I was not a threat to myself or anyone else nor was I likely to become one. I read the question at face value and I did not try to read anything beyond that. It is not misrepresentation as all issues were disclosed at the medical.

Thankyou both so much for replying, reading threads and hearing other people have had similar issues really helps.

My husband keeps telling me he's yet to come across a thread saying they was denied entry because of a past mental health issue, I just wish it had all never happened and don't really like the idea of having to go over it all again.

I just can't wait for my life to feel personal again.....Im so afraid I say something 'wrong' my husband also agrees to saying no to the question as I am not a threat to myself and NEVER was a threat to anyone else.
