I need help please I paid a lawyer 1000.00 attorney fee and 1200.00 upfront for all application for my Relative I-130 petition. NVC has received and provided our case number.. On 11/21 they sent information on paying the IV fee's 88.00 and 230.00. My lawyer send me a email advising You can go online and make the payments on your own or forward me the funds and I will go online and make the payments.  

I can't believe this lawyer is trying to take me for more money.. I believe our year and 3 months wait to get a approved was due to something she did incorrectly.. We were asked for bonifide evidence I had to send everything all over again.. I prepared the package she even complemented me on how well I put it together.. I want to fire this terrible lawyer and I want my money back.. This is another further delay as the bills should have been payed and I should have been getting a email with the confirmation of paid.. But this thing is asking me to pay or forward monies to them that I already gave.. As she would not start any of the process before all was paid in advance..What do I need to do!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP

Im sorry to hear that it happened to you. I went through this last month my lawyer wanted more money that i had already given him to be honest i didnt even want to fit it i just submitted choice of agent to nvc and did all the paperwork after that by myself i hope that helps good luck!

05/23/2012: NOA1 (i-797 Rec'd Hard copy via snail mail)

10/20/2012: Case number/IIN

11/05/2012: AOS Bill Invoiced-PAID

11/07/2012 AOS Show PAID

11/13/2012: AOS Package sent(via- USPS) 

11/13/2012: sent ds3020 (choice if agent)

11/15/2012: rec'd acceptance if agent

11/17/2012: IV Bill invoiced-PAID

11/21/2012: IV Bill Show PAID

11/19/2012: IV Package sent(via-usps)

11/21/2012: received Instruction package

01/04/2013: Case complete at NVC

01/30/2013: Interview scheduled

That is too bad!! I was looking into hiring an attorney when I started my journey and they wanted $1300.00 for their service and I was to pay all the fees and basically do all the work. After all my reading on VJ, I decided I was not going to waste $$ hiring an attorney.

The only advice I can give you is to get on the site and pay the fees. Otherwise it will only delay you more. Take the loss and finish the rest of the process yourself.

This process takes along time with or without the attorney. Sorry for the delay and hope you get to be with your loved one sooner rather than later.

05/09/2012- Mailed I-130 via Fed Ex

5/10/2012- I-130 has been received & Signed for at the Chicago lockbox at 10:23 am

05/14/2012- Received NOA1 via Text Message

05/17/2012- Received NOA1 via Snail Mail(Postmarked 5/15/2012)

07/27/2012- 9:36 am Received NOA2 via text message (thought it was a dream)

07/30/2012- Started calling the NVC to see if case has been received

08/02/2012 -Called NVC- Rep told me that NVC Received Package 07/30/2012 (Still no case# assigned)

08/16/2012 -Called NVC- Information has been entered and received my case number (Yahooo)

08/24/2012- AOS Bill invoiced and paid

08/30/2012- Emailed the DS-3023

09/05/2012- Sent AOS (Affidavit of support) packet via Fed Ex (overnight)

09/06/2012- AOS Packet received

09/11/2012- Received email notification that the DS-3023 (Choice of Agent) has been accepted

09/13/2012- Received IV Bill

09/13/2012- Paid IV Bill

09/17/2012- IV marked as paid

09/17/2012- Sent IV Package (DS-230) via Fed Ex

09/18/2012- IV Package Received

09/18/2012- AOS Packet Accepted

09/25/2012- Called NVC and found out I have an RFE

09/26/2012- Received RFE via EMAIL

10/01/2012- Sent original divorce documentation (RFE) via Fed Ex overnight

10/15/2012- CASE COMPLETE (Yahoooooooooooo)

10/23/2012- Case complete email received..

11/02/2012- Called DOS and received interview date

11/05/2012- Received email with check list and appointment date

11/20/2012- Medical Completed

12/03/2012- Interview Scheduled

12/24/2012- Entered the USA and got to MN at 12:08 am on 12/25/2012 Merry X-Mas to us

I-130 petition fees are NOT NVC Doc fees.

Just bear that in mind as you're thinking of the fees.

Want some visas? Do some doc intake at NVC, with or without your attorney. Regardless, fees for VISA APPLICATION must be paid into NVC.

Did you remind her that she already has the funds? I am wondering if it even makes sense to bother to fire her because as far as I see she has nothing left to do apart from sending in the civil documents and AOS and she wont give you a refund.

Also call NVC to ensure they have you and beneficiary email addresses for them to send correspondences to you.

Good luck.

I hope someone will come along to tell you how to fire her for you to finish it yourself.

October 18, 2012: Interview (APPROVED)
October 26, 2012: Picked up visa from DHL (delay caused by Sandy)
December 15, 2012: POE Atlanta....................became USC July 2016!!!!

Mothers' Journey (My sister is the petitioner)

September 10, 2013: Sent I-130 (UPS next day service)

September 12, 2013: Received text to confirm delivery

September 16, 2013: Received NOA 1

March 22, 2014: Received NOA 2

April 8, 2014: File Received by NVC

May 26, 2015: Interview (approved)..........now LPR (delays caused by 2 RFE)
