Hi everybody.

Me andy wife(american citizen) had our interview today.

It went pretty smooth...regular questions, the IO made a copy of our birth certificates and my i-94.

It was about 25 minutes,in the end of the interview she gave us a letter that explain we have 87 days to send some more evidence(letters from family, pictures, bills, joint bank account, lease agreement and stuff like that).

We had all she ask with us except for the letters from family and some more photos.

She also told me that i need to register to "selective service"...

Anybody have any idea whats going on?

Thanks

No, it is a draft system. If the US is in a war that taps our military for troops, they start pulling from the draft list. If they draft you, you have to join the military, there are some but few exceptions to that rule.

I'm not sure how to answer that question. Read the website that I posted for you, it might answer it.

It sounds to me that your interview went well but was lacking evidence. Just provide the IO with what she asked for. Someone may add to this post with more info but it sounds like a pretty simple explanation to me.

Good luck!!

The main issue with selective service is that you have to register before your 26th birthday, otherwise you may have trouble later on when it comes to naturalization. It doesn't directly affect your current application for permanent residency. You may even find that you are unable to register before your permanent residency is approved.
