I am a u.s citizen and reside here in California.. and I need to go back to Philippines to tend to my sick grandmother.. but the thing is that a round-trip ticket is very expensive during December... Is it okay for me to get a one way ticket instead?

Are you also a citizen of the Philippines?

AS a US citizen you can do what you want in regards to getting a ticket. Immigration won't question it. I can't imagine that buying a one-way is going to be cheaper than round-trip.

no..i just became a u.s citizen just recently..

so u dont think it will be any trouble with the immigration officers or anything?

a round trip ticket during december costs around $1.7k.. when a one way costs around $1k.. that 700$ is huge difference for me ><

You can buy One Way Ticket there is nothing wrong with it.

US immigration will not question you about the one way ticket they(US immigration) do not care.

I am not sure about requirement from Philippines immigration, if you need one way or return ticket, that you should be able to check with their embassy what are the requirements for a USC.

When my husband flew here for the first time, we didn't know what date he'd be returning so I shopped around. And around. AND around.

By checking 3 or 4 times a day (I made it like a part time job for myself, setting the clock and such), I finally found him a flight here for around 700$ in April (purchased 2 or 3 weeks prior). His round trip flight back in August was around 1400$--the typical price nowadays is $1200-1700.

We checked the major sites that look at lots of airlines as well as the individual airlines themselves. I have found the prices to be different and gotten deals both ways. I don't know if AeroMexico goes that way, but they still allow 2 50-pound bags without a surcharge so that is a bonus. Good luck.

Once you become a US citizen the US won't recognize your PI citizenship, but PI will still consider you their citizen. You will still be PI in their eyes so you won't need a PI visit visa or worry about PI immigration.
