I just can't sleep because i have a lot going through my mind. I summited my application for removal of status since May of this year. I got the Appointment for Biometrics and Reciept saying that my green card was extended for a year. It is almost December and i am starting to worry a little. Also my Dad is recently admitted in a Hospital in Switzerland with Cancer, i havent seen him for almost 2yrs.What can i do. Me and my wife will love to go and see him at least now i got 1 month of vacation from work. Also can i be able to track my status online? Any advice or suggestion will be highly appreciated. At this point i don't even care if they call for interview,i just want to get it done with.

Thanks in advance for your reply. God bless!

it's normal, some have even waited 9 months or more. that's what the extension is for. you can travel with the letter and her GC, no problem

You need to apply for a visa to Switzerland as a Nigerian citizen. The only thing the GC does is allow you back into the US after travel. It may show to the Switzerland government that you will leave after your visit as you are a LPR to the US rather than living in Nigeria and if you were a USC you would qualify under the VWP. I just checked on processing times for the ROC as ours is coming up and it states that the normal processing time is 6 months, so you are just coming to the end of normal processing times.

Good luck,

Dave

I would be curious to know if the Swiss accept your extension letter as valid proof of US LPR. Do post back here once you find out. I also need to get a Schengen visa soon.

I will check sometime this week and see if they can accept it or not.

Nothing much you can do but to wait.

Look, mine was over a year and fact is it's still pending while I'm already naturalized citizen.

Bottom line is, when the 3-4 months before your extension expires and you still didn't hear anything, get hold of USCIS and ask for a service request to check on the status, also ask for a written response. If nothing was heard after 30-45 days AND if you qualify to fire for citizenship (N-400), do so, which will force them to make a decision on your ROC.

IF citizenship is not your ultimate goal, get hold of your congressman at the same time and ask for assistant.

Remember, you have to push, don't let them pull you around.

Thanks Steve. This can be a little frustrating. I am going to wait until 3-4 months to the expiration of my extension and i will ask my lawyer to ask for a service request. I wish we can be able to view it online.

Welcome.

Also NEVER EVER trust the online application status. They are not accrue or even updated as they should be.

You have a lawyer doing everything for you? Well honestly you could've done it by yourself. Which I suggest you put in a SR by yourself when the time comes. Lawyers only want to prolong it and then charge you for fixing it.

You are very right Steve. I called him this afternoon to tell him that i will do it once it is 3-4 months towards my extension expiration and he was basically telling me how much i will pay. I already paid a lot. This is insane. I will take your advice and do it myself.

Thanks so much for your help. Bless you
