Hi,

My wife and I are in the final stages of our K-3 application in London (Jen is American, I'm British). We recently returned our completed package 3 and checklist and we're waiting for an interview date.

We both previously lived in the Netherlands and as you may or may not know, Holland is one of the countries where the US Embassy has to apply directly to the Dutch authorities for my police record, so it is completely out of our hands.

Does anyone here have any experience of this or know if this can significantly delay the process?

We read here that once the Embassy receives your package 3, it usually only takes a week to receive the letter with your interview date. They received ours on 23rd October and we still haven't heard from them, so we're a bit concerned that something is delaying us.

Any help will be gratefully received!!

Thanks,

Jen and Jerry

From the DOS website:

Approximately four weeks are required to obtain the certificate from The Netherlands Government, provided there is no derogatory information concerning the applicant. In cases where there is derogatory information it will take up to eight weeks before the record is received at the Consulate General in Amsterdam.

YMMV

I had to get a Dutch police certificate as well. The US Consulate in Rio requested it for me. It took about two weeks for them to send the request and get it back. I don´t think it delayed my process too much. PM me if you want more details on that.

Have you given them all the info for them to get your police certificate (address where you lived, verblijfsvergunning number, etc...)?

Thanks for this. I sent them info about all the places I lived in the Netherlands and they signed for the letter on 23rd October, so nearly two weeks ago. They never asked for my verblijfsvergunning and I doubt I still have it. I hope that's not important. I guess we should hear back from them some time next week?

I think you'll be hearing about it really soon. According to the Consulate in Rio it takes from 2 to 4 weeks. I called them after two weeks to find out whether my paperwork had arrived from the NVC and asked about the certificate and it was already there. So maybe you should try to contact them next week to find out.

I guess each country asks different things. Here they asked for my verblijsvergunning and luckily my ex still had it. I think that makes it easier and quicker to find you, but I believe it's not really that important.

I hope you get some good news soon!!!
