Hi.

I applied for my fiance on august 3, 2012. My fiance is form Iran and our application has been processed through California Service Center. I only have received my first letter that they accepted our applications... how long do we have to wait for an actual interview date ? we are both anxious..

It can usually take up to six months to get noa 2, which is the notice of approval, and your case will go through nvc which in worst cases takes up to two weeks, and then it will get to the embassy. It usually takes embassies that process iranian beneficiaries a month to give out dates.

Lets get the semantics out of the way first, you did not apply for your fiance and you did not submit an application. What you submitted was a petition. Your fiance will apply for a visa only after the petition you submitted has been approved.

To answer your question, using USCIS' stated goals of 5 months from submission to adjudication decision, the soonest you should expect to hear a decision on your petition should be January. It may be sooner, it may be later, no one will be able to give you an exact timeframe. If the petition is approved, the file still must be sent to an IV unit abroad where an Iranian beneficiary will be able to interview (Iranian beneficiaries usually interview in Ankara). You should plan on this at least one more month before an interview date is assigned.

so now you should be waiting for the NOA2. I got mine 5 1/2 weeks after I got my NOA1. I just received my NOA2 last week and that is where I am at now. I am now waiting for letter from NVC and trying to figure out how and where to pay the visa. Like he said, most iranians interview in Turkey. I chose Armenia :)
