Back in 1987 I married a korean woman while based in Korea. All the paperwork was done on base and the marrigae took place on the base. Whch means we were married on US soil. I do not know of any visa being given or if it was automatic.

Now after beiong divorced for 6 years I found another woman that I want to marry. Problem is that on the application it asks for a date of any other visas. I am not sure if my ex-wife had a visa. And I definately don't know the date we would of applied.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can find the info I need, if I need any info?

Thank you

Even after you married on base you would still need to file paperwork with USCIS for your ex wife to have gotten a visa(CR1) to come to USA.

If you did not file anything then no visa was ever issued.

[Hi Sam!!!]

did you ever make any copies of her passport pages? If so, have another read....

when you did psc out of Korea, did she come with you ? has she EVER set foot on CONUS, lived with you ?

I replied but its not showing in my phone so apologies if I double post.

Thanks Celeste for moving this. I am new here.

I got married in my first year there. Left after 2 and we just hopped a plane for Texas. My next duty station. I don't remember a visa involved but maybe I should ask her. But that still may not help me with the date of application that the I129 requires.

Interesting. Did you get to Texas on a Military Aircraft and land at an Military base where they do not check Passports and/or status?

If the visa was issues in your exwife's name, it's more likely they'll share the info with her rather than you. As a minimum, you'll need to know your exwife's full name and DOB. The cases include sensitive info, so the more you know about the case, the more info you can get.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

ya, I think the ex is upset because I found someone even though she remarried. But I know her DOB and I also have her SSN since I do her taxes every year for her. But since she is upset I think getting her to find out will be like pulling teeth. Thanks everyone, I am glad I found this site.

This is nerve racking. I thought I called imigratioin and spend about 30 minutes on the phone just to fianlly relize it was a immigration lawyer firm. Than I finally found the correct number and spent 45 minutes clicking numbers never actually speaking to someone. So I still have no answer on the former visa.

I am thinking about hiring someone to deal with this. Any suggestions?

Maybe you can talk to your CO from when you got married and find out how they issues visa's for non US spouses of military personnel.

They might have a record of it.

OR... look at the PSC orders , coming out of Korea.

Surely her VISA # is on that set of documents, aye?

----

To get a Human at USCIS -

call the #, punch NO buttons.

Within 5 minutes, you'll be transferred to a human.

When the human stops talking, say 'English Please'

then ask your question about the ex.

I seem to remember something about YOU filing a Freedom of Information Act 'thing' with USCIS, in writing, to get the information, however.

In a pinch, just write 'see attached' in that block for her A#, and in the attachment, write up:

Lastname, Firstname, DOB, SSN, married on xx/yy/zzzz, POE approximately XX/Yy/ZZZZ, unknown visa type, currently a green card holder living in [City], [state], unknown date for first issuance of green card.

My husband was married before to a S Korean national and filed a spouse visa for her. He totally forgot the dates etc, so what he did was called them and said he did not know the date etc. They said it was fine as long as he had her name and DOB and if possible, passport no at the time of application.

I dont know if this is causing the delay in our I130 application but that was all he did regarding this issue.
