Social messaging as a proof of ongoing relationship

We are in a process of assembling a I-129F package right now.

We have pictures, itineraries, hotel receipts and so on for past few years.

But as a proof of our ongoing relationship we have tons and tons of messages from Facebook and other social sites as well. As per phone conversations.. we used phone cards mostly and skype, now we are using IP-phone with option of call list. We have very little emails. And also we have cards that were sent in bigger envelope along other stuff, and there is no evidence that those cards addressed to my fiancee.

So our proof would be messaging from social sites. Is there any way to show them some kind of paper that just says we have millions of messages and it would be just waste of paper and time to translate it all in English and besides there is a lot of personal stuff? Or maybe just show them our first message and most recent message? Well what is a correct procedure for providing messages from social sites such as facebook.

How can I prove them that cards are for my fiancee? The ones that are not signed and have no address on envelope?

So far as I know you only need to show evidence of two things:

1) That you have met at some time WITHIN the two years preceeding your petition

2) Explanation of "circumstances" of meeting.

At this time you do not need to "prove" an ongoing relationship--that is needed for interview.

There is "primary" evidence such as passport stamps, airline tickets, boarding passes. There is "secondary" evidence such as photos, afidavits, the social media stuff.

I suggest you google I-129f and look for instructions--also I believe there are similar instructions here on VJ

good luck----prepare for approx. 6 months of waiting for NOA2 (Notice of Action)

We have stamps in passports and ticket confirmations and for some flight we even have actual tickets and pictures of us together. But I want to add more just in case..

She was living with me in US for the duration of her tourist visa. I guess circumstances would be.. tourist visa?

I have hotel receipt from Russia where we stayed while I was there. And it is all in Russian. I want to attach this to the file.

What are the requirements for translation? Certified translator or my translation would be sufficient?

Do you have credit card statement or receipt from Hotel in Russia?? If so include that. If you have airline tickets and boarding passes that coordinate with that trip and your passport stamps, send all that. Make sure your photos are dated to coordinate with meeting "within two years" of your petition. Hotel receipts do not need to be translated.

If you can prepare "affidavits" from friends who were with you or who saw you together at any time "within two years" o your petition. Those afidavits need to have birthday of person giving afidavit and they need to be Notorized.

If you can prepare a "synopis" of your rel;ationship w the pictures. Make it brief-- 1 or 2 pages. Keep it very well organized. No "fluff".

If they are asking for any Divorce papers, send copies of the "final decree" for either party.

Keep it tight and brief--don't overwhelm them w stuff (useless). Remember the US allows approx 1,000,000. immigrants into US everyyear. Thats all done at Vermont, Calif, adn Texas----do the math------------that's a lotta papers.

You will be fine.

Oh forgot to mention. All photos must be "handwritten" on front and back w small description, date and signed by you (Petitioner)

Attach copies. Never send the originals. You'll never get them back. If they want to inspect the originals they'll ask for them. They occasionally ask to inspect the originals of official documents like birth certificates, but it's very rare for them to ask for the originals of evidence.

Only official required documents need to be translated. Evidence, like hotel receipts, do not need to be translated. Feel free to translate them yourself if you're concerned that the adjudicator won't believe that they are what you claim they are, but they don't usually question the validity of secondary evidence because it doesn't carry that much weight anyway. If you say it's a hotel receipt from a specific hotel in Russia they'll generally accept that it's the truth.

Unfortunately we don't have statement. It was charged to russian credit card, and in this case it would be easier to translate Russian receipt than get "statement". We do have itineraries and passport stamps and for some recent trips we have boarding passes. I've prepared copies of all that to be sent.

We have our common friends on some pictures. Is it necessary to prepare affidavits from them? Don't really want to do so...

We have our story in attachment to the form 129F in the answer to question 18 "Has your fiance met you in the past two-years..." And we will attach pictures to that story as well. There are dates and everything. And reference to the boarding passes and itineraries. One page of text and next page summary of all trips.

Oh forgot to mention. All photos must be "handwritten" on front and back w small description, date and signed by you (Petitioner)

We have our names on the back of the picture and place with date. Not event. I will sign all of them, THANKS!! But what has to be on the front???? Should I just circle faces and put names on top? :)

We have only copies in our stack of paper. :)

OK, Thanks for the input! I'll just attach paper saying that this is hotel receipt our names and dates. I hope that will be sufficient.

I have few questions regarding A#. If you know..

On form I-129F question 8b. A#(if any)

As I know this is Alien registration number. This is the number of green card. I had this number on my green card. Now on my Naturalization certificate I have my certificate number and USCIS Registration number which is the same A123456789 number that I had on my green card. Is there any way to find out if I have A#? I called USCIS and they give generic answers...

And in form I-129F question 10. My citizenship was acquired through (check one) and there are 3 squares birth, naturalization, parents and still in the same question 2 additional squares that say YES and NO. And it seems like it is divided in 2 parts. Have you obtained certificate in you name?

Here is a question... When I was ready to receive my Naturalization certificate they said to me that my birth certificate translated from Russian misspelled my name as Alexei and I always always used Aleksey. SO they said that my official name is the in birth certificate, but all my paperwork everywhere.. under my current name. So they said that they will change my name to Aleksey. So basicalli I was using Aleksey and then they changed it to Aleksey, because my birth certificate was misspelled in Russia with name Alexei.

Should I mark that I had my name changed from Aleksey to Aleksey? Cause honestly I don't think anyone knows that on my birth certificate my name spelled differently. But again this is a wrong translation of birth certificate. :)

W besides there is a lot of personal stuff?

Two people who are intending to marry in a legitimate relationship ought to have a lot of personal stuff!

You have to prove to a total stranger (the CO at the Embassy) that you have a legitimate relationship.

Purposefully generate many different types of evidence, even if you don't normally do it, do it on purpose, just for the interview.

It's only your joint future lives at stake!

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!
