Yeah, I know. It's kinda frustrating, especially when you can't do anything until you get the green card. No job. No car. Not being able to go anywhere, meet anyone. Maybe your situation is different than mine, hopefully better than mine.

Yes it is frustrating. And i know how it feels like because it took us 1 year and 6months before I filed my application. Can't do anything since then but I got my EAD now and able to get my driver's permit and learning how to drive. What we can do now is wait and patience it is very easy to say that but hard to do. Let's just hope we hear something good soon.

You are wrong. you dont know how someone feel except you have been in there shoe if not harpa Timsah would not have responded the way he did.

I responded the way I did because sometimes people need a dose of reality. The OP had numerous thread on this subject and already said he called his congressman and make multiple service requests and the result was always "within normal processing time. Call back later."

I have a lot of empathy, and I know it is hard to wait. The OP, however, has EAD and AP and can live normally. They are together in the US and should be living normal lives. I think we determined an another thread of this OP that s/he is eligible for a Driving License and we linked the law so the OP can drive.

I have been waiting 6 months already for my ROC, and I am in the same situation as the OP. I expect to wait at least two months more. I am sorry if I rubbed the OP the wrong way, but all the stress and phone calls and waiting on hold and transferring and letters etc will not make it go faster.

It's a long road. After this there is more waiting and more waiting. And then some more waiting.

In fact, just a few years ago AOS used to take 2 years. There are a lot of people on this board who waited two years. Imagine that.

It sucks to be powerless, but you cannot complain and make it go any faster.

Op, have you joined a monthly filers thread and compared timelines? I am sure you will find others in the same situation. You will get approved shortly.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Yeah, different people have different experience and stories and are in different situations too. Therefore, their reactions to the same issue are also different. For a person in Manhattan, NY not being able to drive a car is not a matter, but for someone in Fall River, WI, it means being disabled. Not having a heater might not bother someone living in Fresno, CA, but for someone living in Maine, it means a miserable life. I always try not to make fun of people's misery or be judgmental, even in a place where no one can really find out who I really am like an online forum. After all, it doesn't hurt to be nice, even when we differ.

Thank you for the nice words, Melbi&Clint.

I(we) submitted AOS December 2011 and was approved July, 2012.

It's not insensitive to say you can't do much just because one is no longer waiting around. It's simply a fact. You may put in a service request 180 days from the time the case was transferred/arrived at CSC. But if they're backlogged, then it won't really do much. Or you could fill out I765 and I131, go to an infopass appointment, take the receipt from I485 and ask if they can grant it both since you're outside of normal processing time. No guarentee this works though.

I drove around on a scooter for the first many months. It was a love/hate relationship to that lovely scooter. Because the alternative was to not get around. We're talking about through the icy cold winds from Lake Michigan to pouring rain and whatnot. Anything below 50cc usually does not require a driver's license as long as it's street legal - check with your state about this though. A month ago, I had paid off the scooter completely, sold it and bought a car. Being fragile in traffic on a scooter makes one pey more attention, IMO. And the driving test, once you get there, is a walk in the park. Take advantage of your situation, in a good way.

You are most welcome Memeber 9. Some think with EAD you can do everything..they better go do and their research more. Not all jobs required EAD, some required green card. i want to believe that someone badging for warehouse job and the rest will have to settle for only EAD.....we are different people with different ambition and puporse, so i believe it if someone say his life is purse because of the craziness currently going on in CSC. It aslo hurt when you see other filling before you getting approved or someone that got approved within three months because they were interviewed, then you ask yourself why did'nt i get interviewed. That is discrimination because we all pay the same fees.

You are right. Not only some jobs require the green card, not just the EAD, but some even require US citizenship, for example, some time back, Voice of America posted a vacancy for reporters; yet they would only hire American citizens. However, it's another story.

Back to my thread, my only point in the first post was seeking advice on what action to take. Being patient is not an action. People have opinions. Someone can suggest that I be patient.

I was not crowding others for my case to be prioritized. I was just trying to get my case processed because it had been pending for rather long. I was dealing with the USCIS, not other applicants, and I was writing here as a member on Visajourney, not a competitor at California Service Center. Of those whose applications were transferred to CSC, I know some have been waiting longer than seven months- I sympathize with them. I also know some of them only had to wait for less than five months- I'm happy for them. For those who have been trying to make their case approved, they have my encouragement. I have a problem and I'm looking for solutions. I don't have to feel guilty if other people with problems are not doing anything.

I'll keep you posted if something comes up. Hopefully soon.

Member9 - look - you can do your own research here at VJ about what's up with the wait, really. Lots of other folk have posted about it over the last 3 months. The advanced search tool is amazing, fwiw.

The pain and suffering, IMO, comes about because of the Deferred Adjudication/Action Fellas that sent off their paperwork. Priority was given then, and your queue (not your place in the queue) seems to have been suspended for a bit.

This is covered in other posts, other threads, here at VJ.

Harpa gave you several reasonable answers, and yer having a reaction. And that's OK - as it's YOUR casefile that is affecting YOU - so it's understandable to sling forth some righteous indignation. Trust me, USCIS isn't making it personal on YOU or the others that have been put on hold.

So, this bit about working? You have EAD and SSN, you can work in almost any field here, including medical doctor, attorney, accountant, cpa, and commercial scientist. You can not expect to get a job that requires a Security Clearance, but that doesn't keep you from applying for one. You are fully qualified on the I-9 with EAD and SSN for a myriad of positions, so if you haven't found the job that you WANT, there be other issues that the Employer is having... [which I won't go into here]

Good Luck !

:wow:

I disagree. People like Harpa Timsah and ourselves can certainly empathize with other people's feelings about the immigration journey, because we have likely walked a very similar path on our own immigration journey. We know that it is hard to wait, we also waited. We walked the walk, and are able to talk the talk.

To the OP: Hang in there, it will happen.

YMMV.

Good luck on your visa journey.

:thumbs:Each step of the way we wait, some more than others all on a path equivalent to not being in charge of your lives to a certain extent. We attempt to assist each other as best one can and even make mistakes along the way. Hopefully all of us learn and don't make the same mistake again and again. Yep, some don't get approved, but realize each file stands on its own merits, so hang in there with the rest of us Chickens.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Everyone's story is different, Moomin. Having a scooter would be great! My situation is a lot different than that of most others' here. But it's another story. I wish I could explain. But it's not relevant to this topic.

Enjoy your rides! Do you ride it in the winter too?

Yep, last year. It was.. cold. Really cold. And sometimes a bit slippery. There were ofcourse days were I'd just stay inside but after getting a job, I drove it every day regardless of the weather. I just sold it but have a motorcycle that's waiting on me riding it around February. I got halfway depressed because of the very short days/lack of sun over here compared to in my home country and needed to do anything but sit inside and go koo-koo. I did bring my German Shepherd with me from home country and she's helped alot because it's forcing me to get out and walk(I'm still the oldschool type who walks their dog on a leash everyday for an hour or two).

I understand that there are factors no one would know about that makes it either impossible for you to do the same. However, it's all a matter of taking advantage of the situation. I am fluent in English but had I not gotten my work permit, I would've started taking English classes just to feel like a human and communicating again.

There are loads of members who are more than willing to give you suggestions or might've been in a similar situation. I know it's hard to wait because you're basically waiting to start your life again. Some VJ members are masters of finding ways to regain their "freedom". Which country are you original from?
