Good evening everyone,

What should one do after putting in a service request didn't help. Contacting the congressman didn't make anything happen either. What's the next move?

I mean when their AOS from K-1 visa has been pending for about 7 months (transferred to CSC a little over 6 months ago)?

Thank you.

Dear VJ fellows,

I've been trying to do everything I can to get my case approved. So far no luck. I'll be 7 month since I filed my application next week. And my status is still "initial review". Without the green card I can't do anything here. I can't get a driver's license. And we live in a very rural area. Nothing is within the walking distance. And many more problems.

I've called the USCIS, each time I got to talk to a different operator, who talked exactly like the answering machine. Asking for my receipt number, date of receipt, where my case was transferred to, transferred when... (The information I expected them to already know).

One put in a service request for me and gave me a service request receipt number and told me to call back after a certain number of days. I did. And another person answered the phone, asking the same questions. When I mentioned the fact that I had put in a service request and I wanted to know the result. She said she didn't know. Then she gave me an email address and told me to contact California service center at that email address. And then she hang up.

I called again and talked to a different operator, after answering the same questions. This woman said I couldn't contact California Service Center by email or by phone, but I would have to write them a letter.

I asked to speak to a tier 2 officer. She said I had to make an inforpass appointment and go to the local office.

I don't know what the fourth operator would advise me to do if I called again later today. But I'm frustrated enough, can't make any other phone call in 10 hours.

So my question is WHAT EXACTLY DO I HAVE TO DO? Contacting whom? USCIS hotline? Local office? California Service Center?

I contacted the congressman and his aide was as confused as I am. She even doesn't know that much about the issue.

Anyone please give me any suggestions?

Thank you so very much.

Why didn't you apply for the EAD and AP? They were free if filed with AOS and you would be able to get a license and work etc.

Anyway, an INFOPASS would be your best bet. They will actually be able to give you more accurate info. People on the 1800 number just work from a script, as you found out.

Plenty of people have been waiting 7 months. Your case is within normal processing times. You, and you alone, have decided that it is not. Obviously it is, so your cries have been ignored, because there are people who have been waiting longer than you whose cases need processing before yours.

What is needed? Patience.

Hi Vanessa&Tony,

I did apply for the EAD and AP, and I do have them. But unfortunately I can't get the leaner's permit with them. I know I'm eligible. But here's my story:

The idea of an INFOPASS appointment would be nice. But as I don't drive, I can't go to the local office, which is about 60 miles away. I hope something is going to happen.

I didn't want to reply to this post. Yet, as it's in my thread, I'd better say something.

Plenty of people have been waiting for 7 months doesn't mean it's not a long time. It's like thousands of people died in the September 11 attacks doesn't mean those who survived should have died too.

What is "the normal processing time?"

How can you know that only I decided that it is not?

I was not crying. It's you who decided that I was. And I was seeking for advice from experienced fellows about how to speed up the processing of my case, I was not asking if there were many people who were also waiting too.

You said, there are people who applied before me and are still waiting. I don't disagree with that. Yet, the fact is there are people who applied after me already got approved too.

So I have a request, if you don't have any useful and constructive information to share, then keep quiet, best just keep quiet. Criticism or attacks are not called for.

You are not alone because mine too has been 7 months since the day I filed my AOS from K1.

Yeah, I know. It's kinda frustrating, especially when you can't do anything until you get the green card. No job. No car. Not being able to go anywhere, meet anyone. Maybe your situation is different than mine, hopefully better than mine.

I am not attacking you. But to expect a different result from all the other people in the same process as you will only lead to disappointment and stress. You can't speed up the processing of your case just because you want to. There are so many other people that have waited longer than you. They get approved before you.

I know it's really hard to wait, but you will make it through.

:wow:

I disagree. People like Harpa Timsah and ourselves can certainly empathize with other people's feelings about the immigration journey, because we have likely walked a very similar path on our own immigration journey. We know that it is hard to wait, we also waited. We walked the walk, and are able to talk the talk.

To the OP: Hang in there, it will happen.

YMMV.

Good luck on your visa journey.
