Hello all!

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum; but I am new to VJ and wasn't sure how to post specifically to my own forum focusing on Cambodia.

I am an American citizen and my fiance is a Cambodian citizen. We are wondering if we get an interview at the embassy, will I (the USC) be allowed to go with him? We applied for a visitor's visa prior to getting engaged (And were denied :( ) and I wasn't allowed in then either. I would hate for him to have to go through this higher stakes visa interview alone. Any advice or comments?

Also, do any of you know if our having applied and been denied a visitor's visa in the past will hurt our chances of getting a fiance visa in the future? We were denied because we didn't send in any of my family's financial documents showing that we would support him while he was in the States (my family was nervous about sending it to me while we were in Cambodia (which, understandably in their minds, since they've never been there before, is a dangerous country)). Thanks so much and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Blessings

Megan and Tee

I would be interested in peoples' thoughts and experiences regarding the US citizen attending a k1 interview. On the US Embassy blog for Manila, it specifically says that their presence will not in and of itself affect the outcome of the interview. Is this the same for Cambodia?

You may go in. You might even be summoned to answer a few questions since you're there. The interview can be done either in English or Khmer. Most of the interviewing officers speak Khmer. Make sure to bring everything they ask for. They wouldn't hesitate for a second to send you out and have you come back because of missing or incomplete documents. Good Luck.
