My I-129F K1 Visa application was approved by USCIS on September 24 and forwarded to NVC. NVC approved it October 2 and forwarded it to the El Salvador embassy. I contacted the embassy by email and they kept saying they did not have a petition. I contacted NVC and they said that their tracking log confirmed that the embassy received it on October 5. I emailed the embassy again and they did not respond. I waited 15 days and emailed them yesterday morning. Finally they responded and emailed me saying they had sent the instructions packet to my fiancee on November 15, 2012. They emailed me the online version of the packet now referred to as Revised NIV-packet 3.5 K1 visas. I read it over and it gives me all the information that my fiancee is going to need to take to the interview. It then states that I should fill out two DS-156 forms and send one to the embassy through Cargo Expresso.

My question is when I look through the El Salvador consulate it states that I should send in two copies of the DS-156 form but my packet does not say that and also everybody talks about the DS-230 but my packet does not even mention it. It also asks for a payment of $240 for the Visa application and I have heard no one else mention it either. Is there anybody in El Salvador that has filed for the K1 visa that could give me some insight? Should I just follow the packet and forget about the comments posted here in the forums?
