Hi Guys

I am a UK Citizen (though am here for the same reason as everyone else)

I got married in September to a Mauritian National in Mauritius, though had to return home to the UK last month due to work.

Sadly, my wife has had to stay over in Mauritius, as she has to wait for her settlement visa, which we were told takes up to 12 weeks to process. She cannot travel as her passport is with the UK Border Agency as part of the application.

It is so so frustrating for both me and my wife having to wait so long like this. I feel lonely, sad, tearful and really miss her - does it have to take so long like this for a couple to be together.

Is this how society views marriage now as long-distance ?. Don't get me wrong, I understand the issues regarding immigration, but surely 12 weeks is so long for both of us.

Anyone else been through such an agony - please let me know, would be good to hear about your coping strategies in the long wait

Thank you

Hey, tough it is to be away from your better half, however, you wont find too many people on this thread to relate. People waiting on a IR/CR take around 7-12 months to get the immigration process completed, and many of those dont physically see their loved one in that whole time. I know for me 12 weeks would have been a breeze.

Good Luck

12 weeks? Dude, most of us are waiting months upon months for approval. I originally applied for my fiance visa in August 2009 and didn't get it until April 2010. You won't find much sympathy on this board for waiting a mere 12 weeks (and most people have waited a much longer time than I did!)

Naturalization

9/11: Arrived at Dallas, TX

9/17: NOA

9/19: Check cashed

9/23: Received NOA

10/7: Text from USCIS on status update: Biometrics in the mail

10/9: Received Biometrics letter

10/29: Biometrics

10/31: In-line

2/16: Text from USCIS that Baltimore has scheduled an interview...finally!!

2/24: Interview letter received

3/24: Naturalization interview
