Happy Thanksgiving folks!

I'm a little confused as to what information can be gathered from calling the DOS. My visa interview was November 6th. It was approved, no slips, no nothing out of the ordinary. "You will have your passport and everything you need in the mail in two weeks." I still have no visa or passport in the mail after 16 days. The embassy says it has "yet to be sent" and that they will "contact" me soon. They then go on to say to "contact us in a weeks time if you have not heard from us."

I've called DOS twice. DOS insists that the visa has been issued and "everything is ok", but are not able to tell me if it has been printed or mailed.

I've seen other posts from people who have called the DOS, and they have been able to tell if the visa is printed or not. In this case, what does "issued" mean? Does it mean the visa is printed and ready for mailing, case complete, hidden under some consul's desk? Or does it mean a visa number has been issued, but the embassy might still be doing some sort of processing? Would the DOS know about this? This isn't my first thread on this, I'm just very confused/slightly worried.

I have yet to see a similar case with this long of a hold up before actually going in the mail.

I'm in the same situation. Well not exactly, but very similar. My interview was on the 1st November and they said my visa was approved and that I'll get it within 7 days. Today is the 21st day (3rd week!!) and still no passport or visa. I've called the US consulate several times and first they said they can't disclose anything to me. Then I asked my fiance to call the NVC and they told him my case is under admin processing. Then I called the consulate again recently and they said my case as been escalated to high authorities and that it's not under AP. Wth??? So anyway, they told me to wait until they email me back (easier said than done!). Now I'm just waiting to hear of some news about my passport/visa. But since it's Thanksgiving in US this weekend, I dont think i'll hear anything until next week (if that's possible!!). But yah, I'm starting to doubt that they might decide to deny my visa after all...

Geez.. You say you called the NVC, do you mean you called the State Dept.? The (202) 633-1225 number? Because they're telling me everything is fine, and it will be mailed. "High authorities"? That's scary. I have never heard of anyone going through AP at the Stockholm embassy.. Would be just my luck if I'm the first ever lol

I didn't call the NVC (and I think it's the DOS), my fiance did. So I'm not sure what number he dialed.

Well, by higher authorities I mean those from the US Consulate in Mumbai who are in charge of issuing visas, not the FBI or anything lol. They are so slow in responding though. I dont think yours is under AP since the DOS said everything is fine. I think the US embassies become slack towards the end of the year since it's Thanksgiving and then Christmas. For them it's the festive season.

But who knows, after all this ranting you might receive your visa tomorrow hah..
