My fiancee sent the biographical information and the signed statement agreeing to marry within 3 months. It has been a significant amount of time and nothing has shown up. My question is: are scanned versions of these documents acceptable for initiating the process or do we need the signed orginals?

They have to have original signatures.

Some people have been able to get away with using scanned copies, but others have gotten RFEs for it. They are supposed to be original signatures.
