However Travel Abroad =/= Travel to USA.

You are technically supposed to get the proper one. Wouldn't want to get the Travel Abroad one, and it not work.

~ once again a wealth of .... whatever.

The embassy letter of instructions actually states the NBI be for TRAVEL ABROAD.

http://photos.state....n_rtf2_rtf2.pdf

And they will be totally fine with the NBI stating for TRAVEL TO U.S.A.

It should be for Travel to the USA. However, it is the same price, and the Embassy accepts the Travel Abroad one. lol I'm an American and I always laughed that my NBI Clearance says "Not valid for travel abroad" on it.

But yeah, we used Travel Abroad just because NBI was nosy and I didn't want to say. This was back when we could use our Clearance Renewal cards. Is there really a difference between going to Australia, China, UK, USA, etc? It't not like your criminal record will be different for each country.

It worked for us.

Why?

When did the U.S. Embassy Manila start issuing visas for travel to Australia, China, and the UK?

At the U.S. Embassy Manila, Travel abroad = Travel to the U.S.

It for the embassy, to fulfill the request for an NBI on the person applying for a visa.

... as long as the one the embassy receives is the "green" variety they are happy.

I have left you the link to the facts numerous times, I know you are not at the visa stage anymore but I thought you might read and learn just the same being you are offering advise to others, then you could possibly provide more helpful assistance instead of what you do provide most of the time.

The National Bureau of Investigation is not run by the US Embassy. Durrr....

It is a governmental department of the Republic of the Philippines. You can receive clearance for the travel to the USA, Australia, UK, several regions and continents, employment, school, naturalization, name change, etc.

Clearance through this agency is required by the US Embassy for the issuance of visa. Obviously, "Travel to the USA" would be preferred over "Valid for local employment-Not valid for travel abroad" or any other.

Also, the USA is NOT the only foreign nation in the world. There are hundreds. Look at a map and you will see.

That was a great answer. However, it wasn't the answer to my question. Apparently you haven't noticed that you're on a U.S. immigration website, and on a thread where the OP is planning to interview at the U.S. Embassy Manila, get a U.S. visa, and come to the U.S.

Come to think of it, everyone here applying for a visa is planning to come to the U.S. So, where are all of those Filipinos who are interviewing at the U.S. Embassy Manila in order to get a visa to go to Australia or to the UK? When you find them, you can tell them to bring along their NBI clearance. They will surely need it to get that Australian visa...

By the way, I'm not sure what planet you're from, but there aren't "hundreds" of foreign nations here on planet earth. There are 195 internationally recognized sovereign nation-states. :pop:

^^^ Yet another fail.

At the U.S. Embassy Manila, "travel abroad" = "travel to the U.S."

The Embassy tells K-1'ers to submit "travel abroad" clearances. "Technically," it's the "proper" one despite your bleatings to the contrary.

Why don't you link us to someone who submitted a "travel abroad" clearance at their interview and received a 221g because of it? Ahhh, maybe because it's never happened before...

Why would anyone apply for a visa to Australia or the UK at the US Embassy?

The US Embassy only processes visa for the US. In fact, so almost every nation in the world processes their visa at their own Embassies and Consulates.

I think you should re-think this a little. This is pretty basic stuff.

5 short of hundreds. Since you are clearly new to America and not familiar with our language and culture, we round up or down depending on a things proximity to 50%. 195 is still considered hundreds. Just like if you hat that amount on cash. You would say "I have 200 bucks". Or if someone said you had only one dollar, you could say "Psh! I have hundreds!"

Either way, since you recognize the USA is indeed NOT the only nation in the world, then why would "abroad" mean the USA?

Nice try! Pretending that you didn't say anything about NBI clearances for travel to Australia or the UK on a U.S. immigration website is an epic fail.

By the way, I have no doubt that you're the type of guy who would boast about having hundreds of dollars in your pocket when you only had $195.

Because the visa the applicant is applying for is a United States visa that allows for travel abroad to ONLY the United States. Rather than focusing on playing word games to try and be annoying... try focusing on what is really needed for the OP to receive the visa.... which is the GREEN type NBI for travel abroad, or if NBI is feeling like having fun and putting the wording as "Travel to the USA", just remember its the type of NBI ... so not the yellow one.

NBI DOES give clearances to Australia and the UK. As well as every other nation and region. When was the last time you had NBI clearance? Mine is still valid.

Abroad means to foreign countries. Not just the USA.

Stop trolling, being abusive, and violating the ToS, of you will be suspended.

But does the embassy really care? Better yet does the person applying for a visa to the United States even care?

There are basically two types of NBI one for travel abroad and one for work that I am aware of....

Like said the embassy wants the GREEN one not the YELLOW one....

And I am sure no one except yourself really cares if your NBI is still valid. And for the OP doesn't care.

So you would recommend that a "Valid for travel to Libya" would be good to bring to the Embassy?

I recommend the same NBI I recommended from the beginning, the same NBI I recommend every time someone asks....

The GREEN one for Travel Aboard... (and if the personal want to notate it for Travel to the USA ... have fun)

And I am quite certain the personal at NBI would not put "travel to Libya" on an NBI that the person stated they are traveling to the USA.

.... once again a wealth of whatever from you........:blink:

Please stop the bickering and the nitpicking. The OP has received the correct response and has apparently also received the correct document. There is no need to discuss this issue further so unless you have something constructive to add for the OP's benefit, please do not continue this discussion about who and where and what, nor continue to make disparaging comments about and at other posters.

Also, for information purposes - this thread was originally posted last November in an immigration related forum and not the Philippines forum. As only English is allowed outside of the Regional forums members requested that the posters respond in English while the thread was still in the Immigration forums. Once it was moved to the Philippines forum it became permissible to use non-English.

I just had a flash back of what I was like when I was 12 and arguing with my parents. We just had our interview December 7th, and the green NBI with 'Travel Abroad' worked just fine. When in doubt, always follow the convenient instructions that US Embassy Manila provides. A cited source will generally override speculation/opinion.
