Hi Everyone,

We are still waiting for our NOA2, our timeline says it should be in by next month. I am just wondering if anyone knows how long it will take from when we get our NOA2 to our actual interview date in Sydney?

I assumed it would not take that long (maybe a month or two but looking at other people's timelines from Sydney I see that in some cases it takes over 4 months.

Does anyone know how long it will take and if there is anyway to speed up the interview at all??

Thanks for your time.

David

Some people only take about a month or so. We got our NOA2 in August, but didn't send the PKT 3 in until November as I was waiting on the I-134 from my US Fiance. It only took the Consulate a week to issue our interview date (PKT 4) after they received our PKT 3 and our interview date is 1 month from the day of receiving the PKT 4. If you can, get your PKT 3 sent off straight after your NOA2.

Cheers

NOA2 to packet 3 is just a few weeks, so from there is depends how ready you are to send it back in, the medical and police clearance can hold things up, but if you are prepared, then sending back your packet 3 information can be relatively quick. Interviews can be schedule from 1 week to 6 weeks, I think that depends on how busy the consulate is.

for us, it was exactly 3 months from NOA2 to interview, it took longer than I wanted as I am working in NZ and wasn't getting back to Sydney very often.

Hi David,

This is all really dependant on a lot of variables.

My suggestion is the following:

1. Have a look at what is in packet 3 I've posted a link. All they do in packet 3 is send you an email and refer you to the US Embassy website to download and fill out forms. You will eventually have to print these out, complete and send.

http://canberra.usembassy.gov/fiance_niv_appl.html.

2. Get your police clearance. This usually takes the longest and varies from state to state.

3. Have the US petitioner start gathering evidence of support for their I-134. They must also complete and sign this form and send the ORIGINAL. (It would be best if you do this as soon as possible as well.

4. Start gathering your evidence of relationship...again.

5. Depending on where you get your medical, you can either book in before you receive your Case number. I was in Brisbane and I was unable to take the medical until I had the NVC case number.

I hope all the above made sense and please feel free to ask questions!

Hi Guys,

Just got off the phone with the receptionist for the doctor that does the visa medical exam. I explained my situation and told her I did not have a case number or interview date yet. They said it was fine and I could do my exam anyway.

Today when I asked where my results would be sent she said directly to the consulate, when I explained that this could not happen and asked if they could be sent to me she seemed to brush it off and told me to tell the doctor.

She asked the doctor the other day if I needed a case number and he said no but the conversation I had this morning confused me a little. Does anyone know if the doctor will be able to send my results straight to my house instead of the consulate?

I am expecting my NOA2 shortly and I am trying to do things now to save time later but I do not want to end up having to do my medical twice.

Any help or advice would be awesome.

Thanks so much.

David
