There was a ceasefire with Hamas in effect which Israel chose to break - assassinating the very guy who was in charge of stopping rocket fire under the ceasefire. That would probably be your act of war right there....

I find it odd you complain of collateral damage, from an enemy whose main tactic is blowing up buses with suicide bombers, targeting civilians with terror and lobbing rockets into residential neighborhoods.

Well if your a high ranking target living in a house or you park a rocket launcher next to a school, then all is fair. I hate it for the family but war is hell.

In fact there aren't many places in Gaza that aren't next to a school, or a hospital, or an apartment building full of families. It's one of the most densely populated places on earth. Do you ever wonder how all those people ended up packed into such a small area ?

Where did you get the idea that I approve of any terrorizing of civilians ? It's a war crime.

Even targeting women and children has long been a tactic of war from the dawn of history.

Bullshit. Before the French Revolution, war was generally fought in open fields, away from the population centers, by professional soldiers. Women and children were usually spared, except by the most ruthless of combatants, as a punishment, or as the spoils of war, not collateral damage. In the case of a siege, the wounded and non-combatants were usually given every quarter, and allowed to leave the field of battle.

How many Israelis shot fellow Israelis in the head and dragged their corpses through the streets tied behind motorcycles for sympathizing with Palestinians? I will go with none, but will hazard a guess the Palestinians murdered by their own people will get added to the number 'killed' by the Israelis.

From the reports I have read, the accusations against the alleged collaborators were rather more serious than "sympathizing."

If you are a high ranking target sitting in a house with your family and children and you and your family get blown to bits then fair or not that's assassination (murder) not war.

So homes are "battlefields" now? Since when were battlefields drawn around the walls of homes? OH I forgot if you torch a home over there you get to give the property to one of your immigrants.

Well if your a high ranking target living in a house or you park a rocket launcher next to a school, then all is fair. I hate it for the family but war is hell.

Was this all a protest gone bad started by a filmmaker who wanted to start trouble? LOL

And thus justifiable? Yes I used the word sympathizer but the news reports indicated the men were accused of collaborating with the Israelis. I don't believe these men were counted as Israeli casualties, and apparently 'accusations' justify summary judgment in the street, likely in front of 'traumatized' innocent Palestinian children and civilians, and the mistreatment of their murdered corpses?

Even if your generous account of history were correct, warfare does not start and finish in Europe.

I don't see how it's any worse than Israel's summary judgments in the street - extrajudicial assassinations by dropping missiles on top of cars or buildings in so-called "surgical strikes" which in fact kill many more civilians than the purported "targets," and traumatize far more innocent people.

Israeli Troops Reportedly Kill 1, Testing Truce

by The Associated Press

November 23, 2012

Israeli troops fired Friday to push back Gaza crowds surging toward Israel's border fence with the Hamas-ruled territory, killing one Palestinian and wounding 19 in the first violence since a truce between Israel and Hamas took hold a day earlier.

Hamas security tried to defuse the situation and keep the crowds away from the border, signaling the incident is unlikely to jeopardize the Egyptian-brokered cease-fire.

The truce, which calls for an end to Gaza rocket fire on Israel and Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, came after eight days of cross-border fighting, the bloodiest between Israel and Hamas in four years.

On Friday, hundreds of Palestinians approached Israel's border fence in several locations in southern Gaza.

In the past, Israel's military barred Palestinians from getting close to the fence, and soldiers routinely opened fire on violators to enforce a 300-meter-wide no-go zone meant to prevent infiltrations into Israel.

Since the cease-fire, growing numbers of Gazans have entered the no-go zone, testing expectations that such restrictions would now be lifted.

In one incident captured by Associated Press video, several dozen Palestinians, most of them young men, approached the fence, coming close to a group of Israeli soldiers standing on the other side.

Some Palestinians briefly talked to the soldiers, while others appeared to be taunting them with chants of "God is Great" and "Morsi, Morsi," in praise of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, whose mediation led to the truce.

At one point, a soldier shouted in Hebrew, "Go there, before I shoot you," and pointed away from the fence, toward Gaza. The soldier then dropped to one knee, assuming a firing position. Eventually, a burst of automatic fire was heard, but it was not clear whether any of the casualties were from this incident.

Most of those approaching the fence were young men, but the crowds also included farmers hoping they could once again farm lands in the buffer zone. Speaking by phone from the buffer zone, 19-year-old Ali Abu Taimah said he and his father were checking three acres of family land that have been fallow for several years.

"When we go to our land, we are telling the occupation (Israel) that we are not afraid at all," he said.

Gaza health official Ashraf al-Kidra said a 20-year-old man was killed and 19 people were wounded by Israeli fire near the border.

Israel's military said roughly 300 Palestinians approached the security fence at several locations in southern Gaza, tried to damage it and cross into Israel. Soldiers fired warning shots in the air to distance the Palestinians from the fence, but after they refused to move back, troops fired at their legs, the military said. It also said a Palestinian infiltrated into Israel in the course of the unrest, but he was returned to Gaza.

The truce allowed both Hamas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step back from the brink of a full-fledged war. Over eight days, Israel's aircraft carried out some 1,500 strikes on Hamas-linked targets, while Gaza fighters peppered Israel with roughly the same number of rockets.

Everyone notice how there is always an excuse for the barbaric actions of the savage jihadists and terrorists ? Remember Benghazi , she was mad at the film maker not the organized terrorist who killed the innocent people. Always an excuse for those Islamic animals that kill in the name of God

1. Citing facts is not "making excuses."

2. Your synopsis of my posts about the producers/directors/funders involved with the "Innocence of Muslims" film is less than honest.

3. I condemn barbaric acts; however, unlike you, I view them within the wider context of the situation.
