Goooo Israel!

s0ef2.jpg

Big deal, everything destroyed can be replaced again in a few weeks, just like all the other times Israel chose to "defend" itself. Israel will continue to swallow up Palestinian land in the name of peace, while subjecting an entire population of people/terrorists to collective punishment, also in the name of "peace".

Well if every time you lean out your front door and throw a rock at your neighbors house he comes over and whips your #######, takes your garden, and moves his fence over 10 feet, it looks like unless your freaking stupid you would stop throwing rocks at his house.

In fact, during times of so-called "quiet" (which means "no attacks against Israelis,") the government of Israel not only continues its illegal occupation, but actually steps up its confiscations of property and illegal settlement building. These activities actually decrease during periods of violent resistance.

At some point the finger pointing, the who did what to whom, we're innocent victims but they're horrible monsters, etc etc becomes the true barrier to lasting peace. while I am glad this current round ended for the moment, arguing 'the other side is the bad actor' will only lead to the next round of fighting.

Make sure you include the wives and children in the tally.....

"Earlier in the week, rescue workers frantically combed through the three-story house, which was reduced to rubble by an Israeli airstrike that killed 12 people -- ten from a single family that included four children. Israel claimed it was home to a high-ranking commander with Hamas’ military wing."

i don't get it.

Good point except you got it backwards sport. The fence moving precedes the rock throwing over there not the other way around.

In total, at least 145 Palestinians were killed during the 8-day assault. At least 91 of the dead were civilians, including 28 children.

Innocent people are always the greatest victims in war, that occurrence is a reality that has no proposed solution.

Even targeting women and children has long been a tactic of war from the dawn of history.

When you commit acts of war against another country often times your own people reap the whirlwind.

There was a ceasefire with Hamas in effect which Israel chose to break - assassinating the very guy who was in charge of stopping rocket fire under the ceasefire. That would probably be your act of war right there....

I had asked in the other thread if anyone wanted to speculate on why Israel would choose to heat things up in Gaza at this particular time, when things had been relatively quiet on the Gaza front.

Anyway, the ceasefire isn't going over so well with much of the Israeli public... seems they want more escalation as well.

Sderot residents protest against ceasefire

Some 50 Sderot residents protested against the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. "We will no longer be the backyard of the State of Israel," they chanted, and demanded an IDF ground invasion in Gaza.

Similar protests took place on Wednesday in Kiryat Malachi and Ashkelon. (Neri Brenner)

Unpopular cease fire hurts Bibi in new poll

A new poll that came out on Thursday shows the merged Likud - Yisrael Beiteinu party taking a big hit mostly for the benefit of more right wing parties. The reason behind the shift is likely dissatisfaction with the cease fire.

A new Israeli poll released this morning, and conducted following the cease-fire with Hamas, announced yesterday after 8 days of fighting, shows a significant drop in public support for Israeli Prime Minister Netanayhu.

The poll which was commissioned by Israel’s Knesset website and conducted by the Panels Institute shows Netanyahu’s joint list with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, named Likud-Beiteinu dropping significantly from a current 42 seats combined to 33 seats.

...

According to Israeli website Walla, a Likud mister who did not wish to be named said that the, “public response is very, very difficult. We do not remember such a magnitude of an enraged response. People call and say: this time we will not vote Likud.”

Another minister is quoted as saying that a reserve soldier said: “A week ago all of my battalion were Likudniks. Now, if you think anyone would vote Likud you’re kidding yourself.”

So, when even the LA Times describes the initial Israeli attack as "Retaliating for a recent barrage of rockets launched by Gaza Strip fighters", it's s still Israel that commits the "act of war". Priceless.

Maybe, if the guy in charge of stopping rocket fire under the ceasefire had actually stopped said rocket fire, 150 people might still be alive.

Well if your a high ranking target living in a house or you park a rocket launcher next to a school, then all is fair. I hate it for the family but war is hell.
