School loan questions?

I am considering going to school. I went yesterday and the financial aid guy said he had to consider my income from Canada in 2005 and Caseys income from 2005. We were not together, that does not make sense to me. He said I qualify for a small pell grant. I am not sure I do because of the affidavit of support thing.

Does anyone have any experience with school loans since immigrating?

I am thinking it may be best to wait until next year and use our 2006 taxes since I only worked half a year.

*January 24 2006 - mailed in I129-F petition

*January 25 2006 - I129-F received at CSC

*January 30 2006 - packet returned.....arggggggggg we forgot one signature!!

*January 31 2006 - sent I129-F back to the CSC, hope we did not forget anything else

*February 1 2006 - I129-F received at CSC again

*April 20 2006 - NOA2!!!!!

the Pell grant is just that ..a grant and does not have to be paid back...there are guarantee student loans....which have to be paid back with interest..

I want to know if the affidavit of support will mean I can't get the pell. And ####### they want to use our 2005 taxes when we were not together.

i do not know about the aos...they use the taxes of the sponsor/guardian/parent (s)..when my son was in school and lived away from home and worked..they still required mine
