Hello peoples,

I'm noticing that lots of people are getting their AOS interviews really quickly at the moment, as in it's hardly worth applying for AP or EAD?? I'm still gonna go for the EAD just in case, but was thinking maybe just leaving the AP for now.. I have to be back in May for graduation but that's it.

It's all so expensive and it would be nice to reduce costs! Especially since we've just moved and I keep buying things to make everything look nice... Such a housewide already :)

Anyway, I'm just trying to find out how many people are getting their greencard before AP and EAD at the moment? It would be so nice to have my greencard soon :) I hate USCIS!

Being that you are a K-1er then there is a chance you will get transfered to CSC ... If you are lucky and get transfered to CSC then you will get approved without an interview and rather quickly ...

I applied for AOS and EAD and I was approved for my AOS yesterday and have yet to have a touch on my EAD ... So in my place the EAD may have been a waste of money ... But there are many people who have been stuck in FBI name check for months or even years ...

You could always just apply for AOS and EAD and if you haven't had your AOS approved say by January then you could apply for AP at that time ...

Hi,

This may be a dumb question but I was wondering....do K-1ers have a high chance of getting transferred to CSC then? and this is a good thing? can CSC really be fast for AOS?

It appears it is only K-1ers that are being transfered to CSC ... CSC approves your AOS without an interview ... If you look at my signature you will see that my NOA1 date is Aug 31 and I got my approval on Nov 1 ... So that is basically 2 months to get approved ... If your local office is a very busy office (like mine which is Chicago) then being transfered to CSC will definately expedite your approval ...

Well my local office would de Detroit at that point. Not sure how busy they are, but after all the waiting for the K1 we've done so far - and not done yet- I'd sure love to be approved for AOS in 2 months :)

Thanks for your answer!

Not always. We're in CSC's jursdiction and they called us in for the interview. I really think that was due to the large age difference between the two of us and they just want to ensure a legitimate sincere relationship.

I'm not a K-1 and I was transferred to CSC as well. Having a K-1 does not necessarily mean one gets approved faster. I was a tourist visa holder when I married, and my case was processed in only 70 days. I have just received my welcome letter yesterday

Best of luck to you!

Vanessa

My story:

09/23/2002 - Met Chris online, there was something very special about this guy =0)

07/16/2006 - We got married in Reno, Nevada.

USCIS:

08/13/2006 - Filed for AOS, AP, EAD - they were VERY carefully packaged with a detailed cover sheet on top of each of the forms, just as VJ's instructions recommend. It was A LOT of work, but it did pay off! (we firmly believe this is what sped up our process big time)

08/31/2006 - Biometrics appointment

09/09/2006 - Received my AOS appointment date!

10/26/2006 - EAD touched and AP APPROVED!

10/27/2006 - AOS appointment at 7:30 AM! APPROVED IN EXACTLY 70 DAYS!!!

11/01/2006 - EAD approved

11/02/2006 - Email notification - greencard will be mailed as soon as it is ready! YAY again!

11/02/2006 - Welcome to the United States of America letter in the mail! Almost there! =)

11/06/2006 - EAD card and White card (a.k.a. greencard) arrive in the mail!

Journey Total Duration: 80 days

Filed for removal of conditions on 07-28-2008 and had them removed on 09-10-2008

Are you sure you were both transfered to CSC ... CSC doesn't do interviews ... If they feel you need an interview then they will send your case back to MSC who sends it on to your local office ...

You would have received an email or letter in the mail indicating that you were transfered to California Service Center ...

Brazilitaliana I thought you had your interview in Fresno ...

Not always. We're in CSC's jursdiction and they called us in for the interview. I really think that was due to the large age difference between the two of us and they just want to ensure a legitimate sincere relationship.

Ya but you arrived on a K-3 ... K-1s are being approved rather quickly for the most part ... It really is risky to not apply for EAD/AP ... We decided to apply for the EAD only and hope I didn't have to return to Canada for any kind of emergency ...

I wouldn't recommend this.

ANYTHING can happen. Misplaced files. RFE's. FBI namecheck.

It's true this is all expensive. But stress is a lot more expensive in my opinion. If you decide you need to travel or work and you are sitting each day waiting for a touch or an email or the postman to bring you something....well to me that's a lot worse.

CSC transfers happen with cases that are assigned geographically to backlogged offices. If you're office isn't swamped, you won't get transferred.

If your name is at all common, the odds of you ending up with a name hit are high.

Systems are improving and yes interviews are getting done in a more timely manner. But I don't yet think we are to the point where rolling the dice is a good bet.

IMHO.
