Our interview was on Nov 1st, at 7:30am at the US Consulate in Dominican Republic. We got there at 6am, our magic number was 162. We were called to window 17 about an hour later, all they asked for was for the Banco Popular pin. They asked us to sit down and wait for our interview. Half an hour later we were called to window 23, a very nice blond white woman conducted ur interview. She asked my husband in Spanish:

Where and when we met?

Where I work?

Name of my parents?

When was the last trip I took to see him?

If we had a honeymoon and when it was?

She then asked for pictures, we showed her two albums. While she was looking at the album she asker me in English:

His parents names?

What do I do for work?

We were never seperated at any point in time during our interview. She then proceeced to look through his file and said that I was $200 short for sponsorship and that I needed to have another sponsor besides me and my mother, or if I had a bank letter that stated I had more than $200 in that acount that would be ok too. I told her that when I sent the packet to NVC I included 2 bank letters. She said they were not in the file. Luckily I had acopy and gave it to her. She said that everything was ok with our case but that there was some administrative processing that needed to be done on their part. We were very worried and asked her if we had been denied, she said no don't worry. We will call you in about 2 and a half weeks so that you (my husband) can deposit your passport and then you visa would be issued. She took down his house and cell phone number. It has been almost 3 weeks and no phone call as of yet. I'm afraid this might take months as I've heard from some people. I'm not quite sure what to do or think. I refuse to leave without him. HELPPPP!!!!

I forgot to add that when she gave us the green paper the only boxes that were checked was the additional administrative process box and the box that says to pay Domex immediately. The 221g box was not checked or any other box on the paper. She gave us the green paper along with the small green slip and we proceeded to pay Domex.

Have you contacted the Consulate or the DOS to check the status of your case? Did they give you a slip when you left? They may have told you 2 weeks but AP can take months. You should start making some calls or sending some emails to the Consulate.

I emailed the Consulate and NVC today, no word back yet. I'm not sure what the DOS email is. The only slip we got was the one that says we are in administrative processing and the slip from Domex after we paid for the courier service.

Sorry to hear this, If it been 3wk now I say give it until Monday and call them back, AP in DR can usually vary from 2 1/2weeks up even 6month at least. In your case you will prettying prepared and had that bank letter, And if that all she needed they are probably waiting on the supervisor to review the documents and completed the AP. I wish you the best of luck and hope this gets resolved as quickly as possible!! But def. keep emailing the consulate.

I'm so sorry this happened, I know the waiting game is a nightmare. You can call the DOS to get updates on your case. I hope you get to talk to Matt he's a really nice guy lol.

The phone number is 202-663-1225 (press 1 than 0 to talk to a visa specialist)

They work from Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 a.m until 5 pm EST. On Wednesdays they don't take calls from 11 a.m to 12 p.m

Good luck :)

Is it ok to call that number even if I'm outside the United States? I want to call tomorrow, hopefully they are available even though it's Thanksgiving weekend.

I've called twice this week, from Norway. No problem. They should be open tomorrow at 8:30am eastern.

I called DOS today and apparently were still under administrative processing, she couldn't tell me why or when it could be over. Is it better to call the consulate for more updated information? This situation is disheartening.

Don't waste your money calling they don't EVER know anything when you call as they are not in the Consulate they are a call center that have limited access to the information. The best way is to send an email to the consulate, they will respond to you in 3 days.

The DOS will give you roughly the same info as the consulate will. The consulate will be better at giving you more detailed timeframes, but they rarely will tell you anything other than "Unfortunately, we cannot give you a timeframe."

Btw, EvaMilly, are you the USC or the beneficiary? Interesting to know if the DOS actually does take calls from the beneficiary. Supposedly they don't, but they talk to me all the time..

LOL...they will talk to the petitioner OR the beneficiary all you need is to be able to verify the information. They don't even ask who is calling just verify the info, and depending on who you get they don't even ask you to do that.
