Dear forum members i would appreciate a bit of help with preparing my forums.

I arrived to US this summer on a student J1 visa. Meanwhile after my program ended i got married and started living with American citizen. Now to cut the story i am preparing forms needed and i am wondering if i missed something out. From what i could read on this forum and few others aswell as on USCIS web page first forms that are being sent are I-130 together with I-485 and I-765. What i am actually trying to ask is do i need some folow up documents together with these ?! Like birth cerfitificate translated to english etc....

Also do i file all three forms together or I-130 and I-485 together and I-765 separate?! Are there any other forms that has to be filed together with these ?!

Note: I am not subject to section 212(e) which means i dont have to go back to my own country for 2 years period.

Thx in advance !

Hey Shuki:

It is I again, who replied in your "follow up docs" section..so, again, like I wrote in the other thread, you do need some proof of bona fide evidence Also, if you download the instruction pages of each form you'll see, you need copy of birth certificate, and yes, it has to be translated into English from Serbian. You need copy of your passport page biographical info, your visa page, never hurts to have the copy of your I-94 (unless you're on WVP). You need a bunch of passport sized (US passport size) of photos, and one for the petitioner too But please, all these are in the instruction of these forms. Don't forget the affidavit of support form and the medical exam by the civil surgeon!

Good luck!

However OP entered on a J1, so VWP means nothing . The I-94 matters as proof of entering with inspection and therefore eligible to adjust status.

Any non-English documents will need to be translated and have the person translating it sign a statement saying they're fluent in both English and the original language.

Other than that, indeed read the instructions for each form. VJ has a guide that are easy to read but they basically just sum up what each instruction say. Try searching Visa Journey for words such as "J1", "AOS", "cover letter" to see what others included.

Please remember that you can't just settle for submitting one marriage certificate/copy of. Treat each form with seperated supporting evidence, IE when 2 forms both are asking for marriage cert. (or something else which is identical) you submit one for each form but you put it all in one envelope.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

Hi Suki!

I just sent you the list of documents I sent with my AOS package (cover letter) please let me know if you have any questions.

I don't think there's a lot of different documents you would need to submit but make sure you read the instructions that is attached to each form to make sure you are sending everything you are supposed to send with your package. The link to the forms is here: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

When you click in each of them you will see the instructions and how to fill them. These are the main forms you will need to fill:

G-1145 E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance

I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative)

G-325A (Biographic Sheet )

I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status)

I-693 (medical examination)

I-864 (Affidavit of Support)

I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization)

I-131 (Application for Travel Document)

Write me if you have any questions. You can also find examples on how to fill these forms on the website here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

Happy Thanksgiving!
