OK. So pushbrk yours and my situations are similar in that we are both Americans and married A Chinese woman. Are you saying it is better for her to assume my last name on all of her ID cards in China to show a bona fide relationship? Will the Chinese government allow her to take my last name?

No, I'm not saying that at all. This discussion is about a USC woman who already decided to change her name at marriage. Changing name due to marriage is a personal decision but if you do it, you do it all the way. Most Chinese women with whom I am familiar, do NOT change their name at marriage, even when marrying a western man. Since is it their custom to keep their name, it is a non-issue.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
