(Had posted in wrong forum)

I files my AOS Oct 4th, but did not expect a quick turnaround. Got a letter today for 1st interview on the 19th of Dec.

I was expecting interview would be sometimes in Jan. The issue is wife has a court case back in her home country for

probate after her father passed. The case is a property suit and their family is required to attend. The first mention is Dec 11.

Tickets were purchased a month ago, no money to fly back and go back to USA.

I know there are many people who say that you should not reschedule, is there anyone who has been

in a similar situation? I myself ( non US citizen) have already decided to remain here until after the 19th.

I called the 1800 number and they wanted to reschedule but I did not do it for now.

Whats the correct procedure?

Does your wife have Advance Parole?

Nevermind, you are the immigrant....

Reschedule if you want. Your choice.

She is going on the 11th? Is there no way she could be back by the 19th for your interview?

People have successfully rescheduled. You should send a letter in writing to your local USCIS office and call. You want to get confirmation of rescheduling. It can take a few months to get another interview. It will depend on how busy your local office is.
