In order to apply for school in the states, (I'm from Canada), I need to show that I have sufficient funds just to be eligible to apply. This number is something insane though and I'm unable to show that I have that much money. However, if I were to pay in-state tuition, I know I could support myself in school and that my finances would be workable. Is there any chance of being accepted if I can't show that I have the amount of funds they ask to see? Thank you in advance!

No, when I applied that was a necessary situation. You may be eligible for provincial student loans but they will not accept that until it is money in the bank.

They also won't accept you as in state

what school are you applying to and what is the cost? Have you spoken to the international student advisor?

good luck

So could I apply for loans to show I have the necessary funds, and then pay them back after I show the school I'm applying to? Lol :S

The school I'm looking into actually does offer, to a select number of students, in-state tuition! If I were to obtain that, the cost would be about $6,000 per year. (Without that however, it would be around $20,000.... So basically, if I wasn't accepted for in-state tuition it would be a deal breaker). I have spoken to a number of people, but I have not brought up this particular issue.

To get provincial student loans you must be formally accepted to a school and they must fill out financial paperwork indicating how much tuition you are to pay. You canndo do this without that being done first. So no, you cannot get financial aid from the province until you show that you have been accepted into the school thus meeting their finandical requirements. It is also not immeidate, my OSAP came through 3 months after I started school.

what do you need to do to get in-state tuition? My school had a program that could do that as well, but I had to be attending school in good standing for a year.

How much do you need to pay and what school are you looking to go to?

good luck

In-state tuition is given out on a first come first serve basis! I've checked this over countess times with multiple people, so I know for sure I could likely get this.

I have to show sponsorship for at least $29,000 in order to apply. This is my dream and I just need some advice! I don't see how I could show that I have that amount of money... But I would really like to attend.. :( Sigh. I'm not even sure what I'm asking anymore... It's very discouraging when money is involved in things such as this.

Could you get a line of credit? Take out a loan and repay it back as soon as you are accepted? Apply for grants or scholarships?

good luck
