Hello Friends,

So it's been 7 months since my NOA1 and no news. I went to the local office in Boston yesterday and spoke with an officer. He nicely told me he wouldn't give me any information even if he knew. He told me that I should just accept VSC's response to my Service Request which says "we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months".

However, he told me that an action was taken on my case on November 9th, but he couldn't tell me what it was. I remember calling National Customer service on that date and speaking with a 2nd tier manager who told me that my case had gone before an officer that same day.

My Question: What can I do at this point besides waiting? I have already contacted my Congressman and Senator (their offices have confirmed that they have contacted VSC and they will update me as soon as they hear anything. That was last week.

You've contacted a tier 2, you went to the local office and you contacted your congressman,

Sorry, there is nothing you can do but wait.

Did they give any indication as to WHY it is taking longer?

good luck

That's the problem! They absolutely refuse to even give me a hint why it's taking longer!

Could you tell me how you found out that they are doing name check on your case? I did a service request almost a month ago and all they told me was this: "Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below."

I'm *guessing* two things combined.. 1. Vermont has been slow in processing petitions for most of 2012, and 2. It's Iran. They do FBI name checks at the petition stage, and there are often false hits, some of which are eventually investigated manually. This takes time.

I know it's difficult to be patient and remain hopeful when things drag on forever, especially when no one can give a clear answer. I also know that VJers saying "be patient" doesn't really help much. The petition stage of this process - The time the petition spends at a USCIS service center is like a black hole vortex where the petition disappears, and randomly re-appears months later. However, keep this in mind - It is extremely rare for the USCIS to actually deny a petition.

wow this really sucks!!!

yukkiieees...

maybe you should change your tone and become more aggressive.

if i were in your shoes i would defiantly take it to an attorney. i know it could be costly but it might be worth your time and the stress.

Good luck!

Aggression with immigration is never going to get you anywhere.

Aggression with immigration is never going to get you anywhere.

If only one could call and yell and threaten to switch to Canada.

It works great with cell phone providers and insurance companies. But in the world of immigration, this is counter-productivity at its greatest.
