USCIS WANTS TO SEE A TRUE MARRIAGE. They want to see in most cases the wife with the same last name of the husband. cHECKED OUT THE USCIS INSTRUCTIONS OF SENDING OUT THE 1-751 PACKAGE. This is called evidence and its better if alot of documents were in both or under the same last name. You can do what you want but i would try to have your wife with the same last name of yours on your lease.

I read the instructions for I-751 form and nowhere was stated that there is such a requirement for wife to have the same last name as her husband.

Can you show where you read that such thing is necessary?

Just because wife and husband have different last names, it doesn't mean that their marriage is not real.

This is not correct. Stop trying to justify your error. There is -0- requirement to have the same last name. Period. There is no preference, no "want" and no requirement.

You are not helping by spreading false information. I am not guessing.

No, he cannot, because there is no such requirement or desire. USCIS could not possibly care less if you have the same last name and cannot require anything over and above the law of the land. Seriously?

Having the same name has nothing whatever to do with having a "true marriage". My wife maintained her maiden name throughout her period as an LPR, throughout AOS, ROC and citizenship applications. She changed her name to mine when she took her citizenship oath. We found it to be far easier to do it exactly that way. Her name on all ID always matched her passport and still does. None of this "green card says one name, passport says another" nonsense.

She was NEVER asked a question about her choice of name and it was NEVER an issue for any procedure. I may add that my wife also serves as an interpreter for USCIS and has NEVER heard that question asked in ANY interview for ANY reason.

ANY claim otherwise is complete and total fabricated bullsh*t and has no place in a forum such as this.

"want to see" ??? "in most cases" ???? Look, it is a REQUIREMENT or it is NOT A REQUIREMENT. There is no such thing as "in most cases" or "want to see" Please stop the nonsense

OR

cut and paste your reference in the instructions.

The name thing is no big deal. USCIS is aware that there are many transliterations of the same name.

Having joint utility accounts is not important, we have NONE. We have NO joint credit cards and Alla's car is in her name only (and was when we filed for her ROC) However all her documents sho wthe same address as I have. There really is no such thing as "co-mingling" utilities,it is just an electric bill. It would be more important to co-mingle a lease or mortgage. And to have lots of documents showing you live together. Insurance is more important than anything and no it does not matter when you add her. I would not even bother to add her to utilities, we never did.

My wife's mother came to the United States on a visitors visa this past summer. Would it be helpful to add this information to our package? I have her flight itinerary to the Unites States, copy of her visa, copy of her passport with entry stamp, an itinerary of our trip to Boston while she was with us and lots of photos. We also purchased her ticket and I believe my credit card statement shows not only the purchase but also her ticket information.

Thank you in advance.

Include that with a letter explaining what is the purpose of sending her visa and ticket and stuff like that.

Sorry to dig this up from page 2, but I have a quick question.

About a month and a half ago my husband and I requested transcripts of our joint tax return and the automatic message said they'll be sent within 8-10 days. They never came. :( My husband called, but they said they would come and it may just take a little bit longer. We finally really had to send our papers last week (GC expires in 6 days) and I know USCIS already got them. I think we included good evidence, but now I'm getting a bit worried.

We did include a little statement why we did not include the tax return copies, and how we would like to assure them that we did file joint and if would be happy to supply the information if needed, basically, but that it didn't arrive on time (worded differently, we didn't want to come off as rude towards another Gov't institution). The first place we actually looked was TurboTax as we had filed though them but apparently you can't access records unless it's time to file the taxes :bonk:

Request them again (in case of an RFE) and try the local IRS office too. You should be able to get them there (to my knowledge)

Thank you for the tip, we will try that! Maybe the evidence we sent is enough, but I guess it's better safe (now) than sorry (later if they want more evidence). Haha.
