Hi Guys,

My wife who is a US resident who filed for my I-130 in June 2012. It's now coming to December 2012 and still there is no movement from Initial Review when I check online. We filed in San Fran so it's under the California Service Center. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I hear stories that it takes upto 2.5 years for my visa to come through, that seems a very long time.

Thank you.

Nik.

Same here and my wife is an American citizen.

See here: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

Go to the bottom of the page and click on California Service Center. A spreadsheet will show on the next page and will show you that I-130 applications submitted by permanent residents on September 3, 2011 are currently being processed. So you have a little over a year and a couple of months before you hear anything.

I can wait another 12 months or so, that's not too bad. My wife read the Visa bulletin and that states they are processing Aug 2010 visa's. Is that correct?

Possibly. I go by the USCIS processing times on their website, though. I could be wrong, but it shows the processing times of the specific forms for everyone to look at.

This is quite concerning.

My father (US citizen) submitted my I-130 (child under the age of 21) at the California Service Center on the 24th of July so I was hoping to hear something around the end of December/beginning of January (5 months wait time.) If you've been waiting for 6 months and still haven't heard anything, how long am I going to have to wait for?

That is correct, because your wife is a US Resident (ie greencard holder), not citizen.

USCIS is a bit delayed right now, plus you have the holidays in there too. I think late January/ February is realistic to hear from them, with an interview in late spring/early summer.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
