I was approved at the interview, and the DOS has my visa listed as "issued." The embassy tells me it has yet to be sent, and that they will contact me within a week. That's all I really know.

The embassy takes fingerprints of every applicant, regardless. The same happens at the airport, the CBP takes any foreigner's fingerprints.

As for visas not being ready.. Well, the COs are human too. Some times things get botched, some times things get delayed. It's not like you can call them and say "Screw you, I'm switching to Verizon!" so their customer service doesn't need to be great.

Verizon sucks! LOL!

Replied to the embassy today asking "Just to clarify, is this when I can expect to receive the passport and visa, or will I be contacted by phone/email?"

Given that it's 3pm on a Friday I don't expect a reply til after the weekend.

Hello !

Dear did you get back your documents? and Please can you give DOS contact number?

I also had interview at November 6, same date as yours...... May be we saw each other there? at what time you went embassy? I was there at embassy exactly at 9:00 o'clock.

At the end of Interview, they give me a paper with instruction about writing email and sending them. I emailed visa very next day. When i asked about my visa approval time, she did not tell me anything.but she is mentioned that there will be AP... Since then i did not heard anything from them. Not even the confirmation of receiving documents.

So i am wondering, and do not have any clue that when this AP is going to end and when i will get back my passport. Is there is any way to know where is my CV? and my visa is approved or not?

any suggestion will be appreciated,

regards,

Ahmad

If you are in AP, you will need to wait. AP takes weeks to months to get through.

I was there at 9am lol on November 6th. What kind of visa did you interview for? I don't remember there being any other immigrant visa cases there when I was there. If it's not an IV case I don't believe you have a case number and so I don't believe the DOS hotline will be able to help you..

Were you born in Sweden? Both parents born in Sweden? AP is unusual in Sweden, more common in the Middle East.

There was a thread earlier this year with an Indian citizen going through AP in Sweden. It took him just short of a month. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/362673-us-visa-pending/

So the IV unit replied this morning saying "you will be contacted by email."

DOS still says visa was issued 2 and a half weeks ago.

Thanks.. Was she approved at the interview initially? Did she have to submit any additional documents etc.? Was it overall a smooth process except for the ridiculously long wait?

Tomorrow is the one week mark since they said "contact us in a weeks time if you have not heard from us." - I intend to contact them.. I just don't want to nag and upset any embassy people.

You could choose a photo postcard that's aesthetically pleasing.

Addressed to the Vice-Consul, IV Unit.

It will either work wonders and be the next big thing.

Or it will end up as the headline of the VJ wiki post on things not to do.

I'll try a beautifully crafted email of the old school format first. If I still have no visa, no passport and an impatient wife in 2013 - I'll begin looking for templates.

Reply to my beautifully crafted letter:

"The visa has not been sent out yet. As stated in previous emails we will contact you shortly. You should have your visa no later than within a few weeks."

Woohoo, time frame is good!

PERSONALLY I associate a few with (3) weeks.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Ugh - I've spent an hour justifying why "a few" = "a couple" = two. Otherwise they might say "a handful" of weeks. Oh well, I supposed they wouldn't give me a somewhat specific time frame if they didn't intend to actually send the visa eventually.

But, would you personally say xmas is "a few" weeks away? Xmas is my goal!
