There aren't a lot of easier ways to get college paid for, though.
Gary, stop being dramatic and acting like I'm saying the military is easy. I'm not.

Your the one that said it not me.

Stop trying to say that disadvantaged people join only for the benefits. Most of us do it for other reasons.

who cares what John Kerry said any more? He's not up for re-election and nothing he did or didn't say will change the fact that more than 100 US troops died this month in Iraq and we need to find a solution so that more men and women don't come home in bodybags.

Actually some of us love people like John Kerry and his comrades because their antics will cost the Democrats a lot of votes.

But just not enough to keep Republicans in power. You wish. :)

Karl Rove is desperately drawing straws. You can smell defeat on Capital Hill.

No, some of us take offense to being called uneducated and lacking in ambition as Kerry did. I would take as much offense to this regardless of the time of the election cycle.

Gary, would you prefer "there aren't a lot of other ways to get college paid for, period? Unless you merit a full ride somewhere?"

The way you love your Mark Foley's and his pedophiles? ;) Pretending that the Republican Party is not sinking on a ship of corruption and cover-ups isn't going to change voters minds.

No I'm not! Remember the original discussion? The discussion about how the military recruits at poor high schools? I'm saying the educational benefits are one reason people join. And the statistics Jenn posted show that the non-officer military is not as educated as the general population, to get back to the ORIGINAL original discussion.

i remember the original discussion, yes. i'm having a difficult time believing that 56.2% of 18-44 year olds civilians have college. basically what they did was skim off the top part of the educational level by not including the commissioned officers. ;)

There are other ways, its called working for it. Not everyone expects others to pay for everything they want.

They did, in a seperate section. You have to follow Jenn's original link to see that. What percentage of the military is commissioned officers?

Being offended by a man who's not running for office is going to change which vote for you, Gary?

Exactly...so what's the difference? Hmmm...could it possibly be that we vote on issues? Like the chaos in Iraq, the infringement of our Constitution, education, healthcare, the environment?

You are laboring under a false impression Steve. It's not about politics or the election. It's about a person that is in a position of power dis'ing the very people that ensures his right to speak that sh!t.

I don't give a rats a$$ if it changes one vote one way or another. It's disrespectful to people that are putting their life on the line to protect all of us.

Among the people who ARE running for office this year are 11 Iraqi veterans, 10 of them are running as Democrats including a woman who lost both her legs.

I wonder if what John Kerry said will actually affect their chances?

 Rovian trickery...I'm betting on the American public to be wiser for it.

As Bush said:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

But Gary, wasn't it you who dismissed all the outrage by the Democrats over the Foley case as election time tactics??? Come on...show me a little honesty here. ;)

Yesterday, on CNN, House Majority Leader John Boehner blamed the US military for losing the war in Iraq:

House Majority Leader John Boehner: Wolf, I understand that, but let's not blame what's happening in Iraq on Rumsfeld.

Wolf Blitzer: But he's in charge of the military.

House Majority Leader John Boehner: But the fact is the generals on the ground are in charge and he works closely with them and the president. [CNN, 11/1/06]

Given an opportunity to take back that comment, Boehner elected instead to stay the course.

A Boehner spokesman later insisted that blaming the military for losing the war is not criticizing the military.

Hello??? Where's the outrage? Gary? Charles? Kaydee? Hmmmm....

So you think Republicans don't vote on issues? Actually it's the issues that get more people out to vote.
