My husband said that when he had his medical, he was asked if he wanted them to test for HIV and he said yes...so I think maybe it is optional

I'm not sure if they tested my husband for HIV, but they did do blood work before running further tests. He did not get tested for STD's (unless it was part of the blood work). But no physical exams or swabs were done. He had a chest x-ray (standard), vaccinations...and due to his age, he had to have a EKG (additional N10,000). The EKG exam was done the morning before he picked up his final results. He basically waited on the results to be added to his documentation.

The EKG printout is included in his POE documentation along with the vaccination record.

Definately....but that doesnt make any sense. Why are stds more of threat than hiv? smh

I think it has to do with privacy and pre existing conditions.

So if you have HIV/Aids then you may not easily qualify/get private medical insurance due to preexisting condition. Additionally, certain employers may not hire you. It has a greater implication than say having a run of the mill STD.

When I went for my medicals I was not told at the time of blood taking that I would be tested for HIV but when I went to collect the results they told me I was tested negative for HIV. so they do test but don't disclose to you. I did my test at kamorass hospital in VI, Lagos
