My wife's appointment was for 11/30 (really bad day for me). So, we went by the office on 11/16 and got there a little after they opened at 8:00. The guard was pleasant and said sure since they weren't busy no problem. Done in 30 minutes. As with the interview, I, the USC, had to wait outside.

Since my wife took my last name we took a certified copy of our marriage certificate and we absolutely needed it!

My husband waltzed around speaking to the employees at my biometrics appointment while they took fingerprints/picture of me. I think, including the spiders in the corners, there were a maximum of 5 living creatures in that entire building in total.

No, I meant the original interview at the U.S. embassy. At the biometrics they were very clear I had to wait "outside" even though it was a big office and there were like 50 empty seats.

AH, I see now. The offices are different in how they go about things. Glad your got it done. You'll either get a notice in the mail about an interview, or you'll have your case transferred to CSC and usually won't be interview. However it takes longer to make a decision. That is, of course, expecting that you don't get any RFE. Most importantly, you're now waiting together instead of waiting to be together.
