It's unfair and emotional abuse! Why does the interviewer first approve the visa and then a few weeks later applicants find out they are under AP? I was told my visa should be home within 7 days. I found out 2 weeks later that I'm under AP. Why do they do that? Why can't they just say, "we need to look further in your case so just HANG IN THERE for who knows how long" instead of "your visa is approved and you'll be getting it soon"? I've read many people have experienced a similar thing...

How will you know that your visa is under AP? I just wanna check if I have the same issue because I kept trying to track my Passport/Visa through 2GO's website it kept saying my Case #, Passport # and UID are invalid. So, I myself is confused. I might have the same issue then.

Well, technically, everyone undergoes AP/AR to make sure everything is correct. Even my IO said I was approved but they had to finish up the paperwork. It just took about 5 minutes to do and then visa in print and out in the mail.

The IO approved the visa but might not be the one in charge of background checks. If they're performed AFTER visa interview, then it's put on hold until they've found nothing and case complete.

Some countries are still doing things manually, sending requests for this and that and it does take time. Or something pops up and they have to investigate to make sure that you are indeed eligible for the visa. I know for my country, everything is basically to be found on computers in registers/databases so the wait it far less. Besides, the country of origina matters.

There is a link on how to check status of visa however currently not available. It's https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx - othervise call DoS, have your embassy case number ready.

Hey sorry to hear you are in the same boat! When was your interview? It's been 20 days since mine :( I asked my fiance to call a number on this website http://travel.state.gov/visa/about/how/how_1463.html I'm not sure which number he called, but they told him my visa was under AP. I think he called the NVC number: 603-334-0700. Let me know if you hear anything...

Hi,

I just received an email from the USEM that my document(s) have been collected from the US Embassy/Consulate. I checked 2GO and it's In transit. Hopefully I'll have it soon.
