Why can't you work here?

I do work here :) I need move abroad because of my family situation, and, secondly, I can eventually make more money working abroad then here. US sitizents are paid very well for the work abroad.

Not sure if you know this, but at your interview and at the oath ceremony they want to know how many times and how long you've been out of the country. Just to let you know you still have to be aware of the 6 month limitation on leaving the country after applying.

Your question appeared to be asking if you could work abroad "without disrupting" the naturalization process. Are you concerned that just looking for a job outside the country will somehow cause problems?

There is a form N-470 that may be used in some circumstances. That however, seems more directed at people who have a US job and are sent overseas for a time to work for that same company. In that situation you could preserve your US residency and not risk abandoning your Green Card.

So maybe try and find a company here with ties to the country you want to move to and see if that might work. Then they can send you over there to work and you can do the N-470. Unfortunatly I don't think it works if you just look for some random job in another country and just move there for it. Then you'd be just abandoning your Green Card...

May - Met future wife at arts fest

Jul - Our Wedding

Aug - Filed for AOS

Sep - Recieved EAD

Sep - Recieved Advanced Parole

2004

Jan - Interview, accepted for Green Card

Feb - Green Card Arrived in mail

Oct - I-751 sent off

2006

Jan - 10 year Green Card accepted

Mar - 10 year Green Card arrived

Oct - Filed N-400 for Naturalization

Nov - Biometrics done

Nov - Just recieved Naturalization Interview date for Jan.

2007

Jan - Naturalization Interview Completed

Burnam,

Review the requirements for citizenship in the Guide to Naturalization on the USCIS web site.

If you're not sure that you understand how they all apply to your desired situation have a consultation with an immigration attorney to go over the requirements with you.

Hi! I have 10 months left until my 5 years term is up and I am going to apply for citizenship. I also would like to find a job abroad ASAP. What are my options?
