Hi there,

I have got a week before the interview and I'm sure that I packed all of the visa related stuff I needed for the interview but there is one thing which is totally bothering me. As for the affidavit of support the Consulate wants to see the tax forms and bank statements etc etc of my fiancee who lives in States. Now last year my fiancee was doing her Uni and working part time in Coach or Apple Store and as per the poverty guidelines for a family of 2 (Including me and my fiancee) you need to make $18,387 (125%) per annum whereas she made only $16,600. So I do have the bank statements with me which says she made the mentioned amount and apart from that we showed she has other assets and it's valuation is likely 4 grands. Now since her Uni is over and she's working full time since April and she presently works @ Cisco as a Manager and her salary is $45K per annum. I've collected her last 3 pay stubs as a sort of evidence and an offer letter from the Company. Now my question is as last year she couldn't make $18k (125% i.e. above poverty guidelines) so will it turn out to be a problem for us ?? Do you reckon it's gonna raise a red flag ?? If it is a problem then is there any way to overcome it ??

Although they'll ask for the last three ITR or 1040 they're more concern of the current year sustainable income. You'll need to acquire her Letter of Employment to support that.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. She has an offer letter which clearly states her position and salary per annum and it is signed by the supervisor. And she has the ITR as well as 1040 of 2011. In the year 2010 she was studying in Australia with me. So do I need anything else mate ??

So she's not currently employed yet but just an offer? I'm not sure if the consulate will accept that but I could be wrong on this one but prepare to have a co-sponsor. Wait for the experts to chime in.

For the 2010, you'll have to explain to them the reason why she didn't file or the reason she doesn't need to.

No she's employed and working since April onwards and has a full time job, kindly read the initial post once again.
