"Supporting evidence

The sponsor must submit, in duplicate, evidence of income and resources, as appropriate."

C'mon wise people--I need some words on this question---where is everybody?

"Duplicate" seems to me to mean they want two identical original letters from my bank (etc)--

which would mean more time off work--more hat-in-hand trips to the banks saying "Er, you know that letter you did for me last week? well, now I need..."

OR (I can always hope) that I just need to xerox these orignal letters and provide COPIES--??

Plus more days of waiting to send our paperwork to Ukraine...phooey!

Aaarrrgh! So opinions on this are near nonexistant eh?

I'm going to put a reply from the Kiev embassy from about two weeks ago regarding my questions about having had low income in 2005 but much higher this year and my statement that I have home equity that I estimate near 45K--here is what the guy said:

> Please fill out an Affidavit of Support I-134 and present it with a copy

> of your 2005 tax return and a recent bank account statement. If you

> have a home equity line of credit or a recent home appraisal that

> demonstrates $45,000 of equity, please bring this as well. This should

> be sufficient to demonstrate that you can overcome the poverty income

> guidelines.

I notice he say "A" copy of your taxes--not multiple copies. And "A" recent bank account statement (not even an official letter reviewing the whole current year)---and a home appraisal "IF YOU HAVE"---from which I get the impression that the Kiev people are fairly easy-going about this stuff....

I don't think I'm going back to the bank for "duplicates"--my whole being rebels against the thought of it---but I sure wish things were clearer....

Sigh,

So near yet so Far in SC

Johnta,

What makes you believe you need multiple copies of Bank statements then? The instructions from Kiev are clear to me.

I am going to have to agree with William33, I pulled P3/P4 down off the website and I do not get the "duplicate" sense.

YMMV

I can see his concern. The I-134 instructions do call for "duplicate" information. I am interpreting that to mean a copy with the I-134 and the original available, should it be requested at the embassy. I base this on other information I've read on this board. But, what do I know.
