I-134 with co-sponsor

Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding the I-134 affidavit of support.

I have sent in all required documents as per the document checklist for K-1 visa provided by the Frankfurt consulate, but obviously the requirement of "Evidence of Financial Support" was not interpreted correctly by me... So the Consulate sent me a request for an "Affidavit of support I-134 by petitioner" plus "Petitioner's most recent U.S. Federal Tax Returns 1040 with most recent W2s"

The checklist from the Frankfurt consulate states: "Evidence which will show that you and your children, if any, are not likely to become public charges in the United States. If an affidavit of support is submitted, form I-134 should be used." This statement didn't make it clear to me that the I-134 has to be submitted in any case, even if I have enough financial funds to support myself for about 6 years in accordance with the requested income above the official poverty level (I sent them all my bank statements to show that I can support myself for a long time). So I'm wondering if anyone has experience with own funds as evidence of support?

In any case, as my fiancée is currently going to school to get a masters degree and thus has no income, her mother has agreed to be a co-sponsor. So now I'm not exactly sure what they need. Is it enough if both, my fiancée and her mother complete the same form and send both their 1040 and W2 (whatever that is)? I read something about proof of US citizenship for the co-sponsor (but that was in conenction with the I-864 form, I believe), so do you think they want a copy of my future mother-in-law's birth certificate or passport, too?

I hope anyone who has had the same problem can help me with this!

Thanks a lot, guys!

I moved your post to the Europe forum because you need replies from people who are going (or have gone) through Frankfurt
